TrueTandem, LLC is seeking an experienced, driven, and growth-oriented Data Engineer to support our modernization engagement. TrueTandem is a 17-year Certified Small Business and a Microsoft AI Cloud Solutions Partner specializing in delivering innovative Microsoft-based solutions across Federal and commercial clients. We help organizations modernize applications, transform infrastructure, and unlock the value of their data through rapid adoption of Microsoft technologies.
The Data Engineer will support our customers modernization initiatives by executing data migration, data quality improvement, and analytics‑ready data preparation activities in support of modernized applications hosted in Microsoft Azure Government Cloud. This role is responsible for hands‑on execution of data engineering tasks required to migrate, validate, govern, and prepare the customer’s data assets for operational use and reporting.
This work will be remote and full-time.
Responsibilities Include:
- Conduct discovery and assessment of customer’s legacy data sources to document data structures, dependencies, and data quality issues.
- Perform data profiling to identify incomplete, duplicate, or inconsistent records prior to migration.
- Design and execute data extraction, transformation, and load (ETL/ELT) processes to migrate legacy data into Azure‑based environments.
- Cleanse, normalize, and standardize datasets to ensure consistency, accuracy, and usability across modernized systems.
- Coordinate data migration timing with application teams to ensure data availability aligns with production deployments and go‑live activities.
- Validate migrated data through reconciliation checks and stakeholder review to confirm completeness and accuracy.
- Implement data quality checks, validation rules, and exception handling to support long‑term data integrity.
- Support establishment of basic data governance artifacts, including documentation of data definitions, standards, and transformation logic.
- Prepare curated datasets to support analytics and reporting use cases, including Power BI dashboards.
- Support data integration efforts by assisting with data synchronization and API‑based data flows where required.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation related to data models, migration approaches, and data quality controls.
- Contribute to monthly progress reporting and other contract deliverables as required.
Required Qualifications:
- US Citizen with Public Trust clearance
- 1+ years of experience in data engineering, data migration, or ETL development.
- SQL skills and experience working with relational data structures.
- Experience cleansing, normalizing, and validating data.
- Experience supporting data migrations from legacy applications or databases.
- Ability to work independently and collaborate with application and analytics teams.
- Hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure data services, preferably in Azure Government Cloud (MAG).
- Experience working with Microsoft Dataverse — tables, relationships, and data modeling.
- Experience with Azure Data Factory and/or Synapse for ETL/ELT pipelines.
- Preferred: Experience implementing API-based data sharing and integration patterns between systems.
- Preferred: Active CDC suitability or Public Trust clearance
- Preferred: Experience supporting analytics or reporting initiatives (e.g., Power BI).
- Preferred: Familiarity with data governance concepts in regulated or government environments.
- Preferred: Experience migrating data from Mendix or other low-code/legacy platforms.
