As Truven evolves toward increased standardization and seller self-service, this role is not responsible for end-to-end deal execution. Instead, it operates as a governance, strategy, and optimization function, shaping how deals are structured, approved, and executed across Sales, Legal, Finance, and Operations. The Deal Desk Advisor influences enterprise outcomes by setting standards, identifying risk, resolving ambiguity, and enabling scalable growth.
Strategic Deal & Pricing Leadership
Serve as a senior advisor and escalation resource for complex, non-standard, or high-risk deals, applying broad commercial and financial expertise to unique and ambiguous scenarios.
Provide strategic pricing and deal-structuring guidance to ensure alignment with business unit strategy, margin objectives, client requirements, and enterprise policies.
Independently evaluate trade-offs between revenue opportunity, financial risk, operational feasibility, and long-term scalability.
Influence deal strategy and outcomes through principled judgment rather than transactional ownership.
Quote & Salesforce Enablement
Provide expert advisory support for complex deal quoting, leveraging deep knowledge of Salesforce, product configuration logic, pricing constructs, and system integrations.
Ensure complex opportunities are commercially sound, fully vetted, and approval-ready prior to submission.
Establish standards and best practices that enable sellers and downstream teams to execute simpler deals independently.
Binding Agreement & Contract Support
Act as a subject matter expert on existing client agreements, pricing constructs, and commercial terms.
Partner closely with Sales, Legal, and Finance to identify material contractual risks, non-standard terms, and downstream implications.
Support resolution of complex deal issues through interpretation, guidance, and escalation—not direct contract ownership.
Pricing Infrastructure & Governance Ownership
Own and govern pricing frameworks, product configurations, and price books to ensure consistency, scalability, and ease of use across the organization.
Lead enterprise discounting governance, including approval frameworks, delegation of authority (DOA) adherence, and policy compliance.
Evaluate and refine pricing controls to balance speed, flexibility, and financial discipline
Deal Velocity & Execution Discipline
Act as an escalation point to prevent stalled or misaligned deals while maintaining appropriate governance controls.
Identify systemic bottlenecks, unclear ownership, or approval friction and drive cross-functional resolution.
Reinforce accountability and decision discipline across stakeholders involved in complex transactions.
Process Optimization & Scale
Continuously assess deal desk operating models, processes, and tools to reduce manual effort and improve cycle time.
Partner cross-functionally to drive standardization, automation, and clear role delineation across Sales, Legal, Finance, and Operations.
Lead or contribute to initiatives that evolve the commercial operating model in support of scalable growth.
Leadership, Influence, and Thought Partnership
Serve as a trusted advisor to senior Sales leadership, Finance, Legal, and Product stakeholders.
Influence outcomes without direct authority by setting standards, aligning stakeholders, and reinforcing governance expectations.
Mentor and develop Deal Desk and commercial operations talent by modeling strategic thinking, risk awareness, and enterprise perspective.
Be recognized internally as a subject matter expert for complex deal strategy and pricing governance
Qualifications & Experience:
Required -
12+ years of progressive experience in Deal Desk, Pricing, Commercial Operations, Finance, or related disciplines.
Demonstrated success advising on complex, non-standard enterprise deals involving ambiguity and material financial risk.
Deep understanding of pricing models, margin analysis, discount governance, and commercial approval frameworks.
Advanced, hands-on expertise with Salesforce (or equivalent CRM) and complex deal workflows.
Proven ability to influence cross-functional leaders and drive outcomes without formal authority.
Preferred -
Experience leading deal desk transformation or scaling a commercial operating model.
Familiarity with SaaS, data, analytics, and services-based business models.
Experience designing pricing frameworks, approval matrices, and seller self-service enablement models.
Background serving as a recognized SME or thought partner across multiple business units.
