At Huge, Creative brings together designers, writers, and technologists to create meaningful digital experiences. We combine creativity, design, technology, and a deep understanding of people to transform complex challenges into intuitive, engaging, and impactful experiences.

Our teams value collaboration, experimentation, and bold creative thinking to deliver work that connects with people and drives meaningful outcomes.

The role.

Huge is looking for a Design Director to join the Creative Craft in the United States. In this role, you will be a senior creative leader responsible for defining and elevating the visual, UI, brand, and product design direction for world-class brands. You lead multidisciplinary teams and partner closely with clients to deliver distinctive, scalable, and high-quality digital product experiences.

We're looking for a genuinely curious mind: a leader who is as comfortable deep in the craft as they are, ranging across strategy, motion, interaction, and technology. You've built real depth in more than one discipline, perhaps visual craft and systems design, or brand and product, and you're drawn to the spaces between them. You don't just direct adjacent disciplines; you speak their languages and raise their bar.

You're also natively fluent in AI-powered ways of working. You've rebuilt parts of your own creative process around AI tools for exploration, iteration, production, and quality, and you know how to lead teams through that same transformation without sacrificing craft.

This role combines strong visual craft, systems thinking, and leadership. You will set the creative bar, guide teams across complex programs, and ensure design excellence while building trusted client relationships and driving growth.

What you’ll be doing.
  • Build trusted client relationships, guiding them through visual and product design decisions.
  • Translate brand, product, and business objectives into clear creative and visual strategies.
  • Define and own the visual and interface direction across products to ensure consistency, quality, and impact.
  • Set and maintain a high bar for UI craft, brand, visual systems, motion, and overall design execution.
  • Lead the creation and evolution of design systems, UI frameworks, and visual identity systems.
  • Champion AI-augmented design workflows: identify where AI tools accelerate exploration, prototyping, and production, integrate them into team practice, and define the standards that keep output at director-level quality.
  • Drive innovation across visual design, interaction, motion, and emerging technologies, bringing multiple deep skill sets to bear on problems that don't fit neatly into one discipline.
  • Lead and mentor multi-disciplinary teams including visual, UI, UX, copy, and motion designers, coaching designers to build their own multi-disciplinary depth and AI fluency.
  • Inspire, guide, and elevate creative teams through clear direction, feedback, and coaching.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, excellence, experimentation, and continuous growth.
  • Oversee end-to-end design delivery across multiple workstreams and complex programs.
  • Partner closely with product managers, client services, strategy, and engineering to deliver scalable, production-ready solutions.
  • Ensure the highest standards of design quality, consistency, and client satisfaction.
  • Anticipate risks, manage priorities, and keep projects on track while meeting timelines and expectations.
What we’d like to see.
  • 10+ years of experience in creative leadership, ideally within digital design and product teams.
  • A curious, wide-ranging mind: demonstrated depth in at least two design disciplines (e.g., visual/brand + product/UI, or interaction + motion), paired with genuine comfort working across the full breadth of the craft.
  • A strong portfolio showcasing exceptional visual and product design solutions for world-class clients, including work where AI tools were part of the process, and you can speak to how.
  • Deep expertise in product and UI design, including design systems, workflows, and advanced Figma mastery.
  • Hands-on fluency with AI-driven design and production tools (e.g., generative image/video models, AI-assisted prototyping, LLM-powered workflows): not just awareness, but tools you use daily and can teach.
  • A point of view on where AI genuinely elevates design work versus where human craft and judgment must lead.
  • Proven experience leading multidisciplinary teams and managing multiple workstreams simultaneously.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to inspire teams and influence senior stakeholders.
  • Experience working with global brands and complex product ecosystems.
  • Collaborative mindset, partnering effectively with project managers, client services, and strategy to drive growth and innovation.
  • Active engagement in the design community and a strong pulse on industry trends, including the rapidly evolving AI tooling landscape.
  • Demonstrated strength as a mentor and coach, fostering excellence and growth across teams.

This role is currently not available for hire or work in New Mexico, and Hawaii, USA.
