DIS-TRAN Packaged Substations is currently looking for a Design Engineer to join their team. DIS-TRAN Packaged Substations, a subsidiary of Crest Industries, LLC., is looking to hire a Design Engineer.  Design Engineers are primarily responsible for the conceptual, preliminary, and final designs of high voltage substation structures and foundations. Design Engineers are tasked with ensuring that all designs meet the requirements of the codes and standards set by regulatory bodies and customer specifications.  This role is responsible for coordinating with project managers, customers, and other staff members to ensure all project requirements are met.

 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Preliminary design estimates for proposals, project management, schedule and document coordination with a diverse customer base, preparation of final designs, and review of final fabrication and construction documents prepared by other staff members
  • Designs and interprets drawings for the following: substation structures, foundations, lightning protection systems, aluminum bus systems, and factory built structures
  • Reviews drawings for substation equipment, structure designs and equipment specs
  • Ensures compliance with customer specifications and design codes
  • Creates and/or checks structural design calculations
  • Creates and/or checks foundation design calculations
  • Checks fence, foundation, and steel layout detail drawings
  • Checks general arrangement drawings for electrical clearances and physical/electrical layout requirements
  • Problem solves issues related to design, construction, and compliance
  • Answers technical questions posed by project managers, customers, and their representatives
  • Recognizes and recommends methods to improve every customer’s experience.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • PE license required 
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Civil, Structural, or Mechanical Engineering
  • Knowledge of all the following applications is preferred:  AutoCAD, MathCad, LPile, PLS Pole, Staad Pro
