The intern will support hardware and software development, collaborating with designers and engineers while gaining hands-on experience in various technologies and processes.
The ideal candidate is someone with interest and experience across the whole technology spectrum from hardware to software development. We are seeking someone excited by new ideas, with an eye for detail, and a desire to work with designers/mechanical engineers.
Our office is based out of the Brooklyn Navy Yard in Brooklyn NY. Interns must be onsite a minimum of three days per week and possibly more as projects require. Intern rates depend on educational level and will fall between $80-95/hour.
Naturally you’ll have:
- Some educational background in systems engineering, electrical engineering, computer science, robotics engineering, or other relevant programs
- The ability to partner with designers or product managers to work through technical feasibility and tradeoffs
- A solid grasp of programming, digital, and physical fundamentals
- Understanding of agile processes in software development
- Experience with programming within a Linux environment in Python and/or C++
- Experience working with version control software such as Git
- Fluidity in picking up new tools and technologies
Bonus if you have:
- Experience with hardware such as Arduino, Raspberry Pi or custom microcontrollers
- Experience with web/mobile frameworks (React, Vue, AngularJS)
- Experience with native app development (iOS primarily)
- Knowledge of AWS infrastructure/DevOps
- Knowledge of backend technologies and databases (Node.js, Ruby on Rails, Express, Flask, Django, MongoDB, SQL etc.)
- Interest in machine learning and computer vision (Anaconda, Pandas, NumPy and Sci-kit)
- Interest in PCB design and manufacturing, and hardware prototyping skills (soldering, PCB assembly and debugging, building wire harnesses, designing mechanical hardware)
