We are seeking an experienced Developer/Programmer Analyst 3 with strong expertise in Java, SQL, Linux, and enterprise application development. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience supporting large-scale applications, troubleshooting production environments, and collaborating with cross-functional teams in an Agile environment.
Responsibilities:
- Develop, enhance, test, and maintain enterprise Java applications
- Analyze business and technical requirements and implement scalable solutions
- Design and optimize SQL queries, database objects, and application performance
- Troubleshoot production issues and resolve application defects
- Prepare technical documentation, user guides, and deployment procedures
- Coordinate development efforts and support project planning activities
- Develop backup and recovery processes to ensure business continuity
- Collaborate with developers, business analysts, and stakeholders
- Recommend system improvements and implement performance enhancements
- Support application modernization and migration initiatives
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience).
- 15+ years of hands-on Java development experience
- 10+ years of SQL database development and optimization
- 8+ years of experience supporting and enhancing large enterprise applications
- 5+ years of Linux experience
- Strong experience in coding, testing, debugging, and application maintenance
- Experience writing SQL queries, stored procedures, packages, and triggers
- Knowledge of database schema design and performance optimization
- Experience troubleshooting application issues, system logs, memory utilization, and connectivity
- Strong understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC)
- Experience creating technical documentation, flowcharts, and implementation plans
- Ability to coordinate development activities and mentor team members
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
- Experience with Atlassian tools, especially JIRA
- Experience working in Agile environments
- Experience with State of Texas applications
- Experience with Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) systems
- Experience migrating legacy mainframe applications to Java/SQL environments
