Overview

This position will be involved in designing, planning, installing, maintaining and troubleshooting Telecom applications and services offered by TSD division of TNS. • In this role, the systems engineer will have wide range of responsibilities and will be working with development, product management, network operations group and External customers to plan, deploy and manage systems and services encompassing Mobile Data Roaming, Carrier ENUM/Number portability, VoIP, IP & SS7 signaling services and Telecom database solutions

Responsibilities

  • Design, Plan, Install, Administer and Troubleshoot applications, systems and services in production and lab/test environments.
  • Administer and Support high availability mission critical applications and systems. Analyze and resolve complex problems including interoperability issues, issues caused by hardware or software.
  • Participate in architecture/design review, requirements analysis, capacity planning and provide guidance to development and product management teams.
  • Assist in Integration of applications and services with network management tools and other enterprise tools.
  • Develop KPI and other system metrics for capacity planning, performance management and monitoring.
  • Oversee daily operations of large-scale carrier grade systems; Schedule, document and implement maintenance and troubleshooting procedures as necessary.
  • Pro-actively communicate status to project managers, upper management and customers.

Qualifications

  • entry - 3+ years of experience in planning, integrating and operating carrier or enterprise grade high-availability telecom solutions.

  • Expertise with administering UNIX (Solaris), Linux (RedHat, Ubuntu and CentOS) and Windows server operating systems.

  • Experience with Virtualization solutions including VMWare, Oracle VM.

  • Understanding of Systems and Network Architecture of large-scale distributed networks.

  • Scripting skills in Perl, Python, Bash or similar scripting languages.

  • Understanding and working knowledge of IP Networks and Security devices including Routers, Switches, Load Balancers, Firewalls, VPN.

  • Experience integrating with and administering of monitoring, analytics and network management tools and products such as Nagios and Splunk.

  • Understanding of security and compliance requirements such as SOX, PCI.

  • Must be able to initiate and complete projects with minimal direction and guidance; Must be able to multi-task and manage multiple projects with competing priorities.

  • Must have strong interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Ability to communicate well orally and in writing with customers and internal employees at all levels.

  • Demonstrated problem solving and incident management skills.

  • Must be on-call at least 1 week each month with 24x7x365 availability as needed.

  • For this role, we anticipate paying $74,000K-$78,000K annually. Any compensation range provided for a role is an estimate determined by available market data. The actual amount may be higher or lower than the range provided considering each candidate’s knowledge, skills, abilities, and geographic location.
