Job Title: Atlassian Migration Specialist

Location:  McLean, VA

Job Type: Full-Time

Onsite/Hybrid : 5 Days Onsite

Job Description : Atlassian Migration Specialist

Key Responsibilities

Required Skills and Qualifications

•  5+ years of experience in Atlassian administration and migrations, with proven hands-on expertise in migrating from Server/Data Center to Atlassian Cloud.

•  Deep knowledge of Atlassian products (Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket, Jira Service Management) and their cloud-specific features, including configurations, permissions, workflows, and add-ons.

•  Experience with IAM integrations, including SSO setup with Ping Identity (e.g., PingFederate or PingOne) and provisioning using SailPoint (e.g., IdentityIQ or IdentityNow) connectors for user/group management and ticketing in Jira Service Management.  

•  Proficiency in migration planning and tools, including handling complex scenarios like merging instances, data cleanup, and phased migrations.  

•  Strong understanding of cloud infrastructure, security, compliance (e.g., GDPR, SOC 2), and performance optimization in SaaS environments. 

•  Technical skills in scripting and programming (e.g., Python, Java, JavaScript) for automation, API integrations, and custom solutions. 

•  Database management experience (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL) for data analysis, migration, and troubleshooting. 

•  Familiarity with integration protocols like REST APIs, SAML, OIDC, and web services for connecting Atlassian with external tools.

•  Project management abilities, including creating roadmaps, coordinating teams, and using agile methodologies for migrations. 

•  Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to handle downtime minimization, data inconsistencies, and user disruptions.

•  Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

Preferred Skills

•  Atlassian certifications (e.g., ACP-100 Jira Administration, ACP-600 Project Administration in Jira Server).

•  Experience with additional Atlassian ecosystem tools or third-party apps.

•  Knowledge of cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud for hybrid setups.

•  Prior involvement in enterprise-scale migrations for mid-market or large organizations. 

•  Familiarity with tools like Backbone Work Sync or other synchronization solutions for phased migrations.
