POSITION: DIETARY ASSISTANT

FLSA STATUS: NON-EXEMPT

  

Job Summary:

We are looking for a skilled and experienced Dietary Assistant to join our team at Bay 9 Holdings LLC dba Edgemere located in Dallas, Texas. The Dietary Assistant is responsible for preparing and serving therapeutic diet meals to health center residents. The Dietary Assistant is also responsible for tray set-up and serving regular meals, preparing snack items and food requests for special events.


Compensation & Benefits: We are hiring for a part-time and/or full-time, hourly position with a salary of $15.50+ per hour. In addition, Bay 9 Holdings LLC dba Edgemere offers competitive medical, dental, vision, and life insurance benefits, generous PTO and holiday vacation time, and 401K.


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential job functions:

  • Deliver and maintain a high level of customer service for the residents and guests.
  • Distribute food in accordance with dietary guidelines and individual resident meals according to specified diet orders and approved substitute menu items.
  • Prepare table set-up in room and bus tables after meals.
  • Initiate resident tray service. Ensure quality and temperature of food items. Deliver and retrieve trays by end of meal dining time.
  • Organize and stock stations with supplies.
  • Enhance workstation safety and sanitary conditions which may include, but not limited to, picking up food and trash around the work area, cleaning tables, chairs, and other food service equipment and utensils.
  • Comply with applicable federal, state, and local laws, rules, and regulations; maintain knowledge of and follows all company policies and procedures.
  • Maintain regular and punctual attendance at work and meetings.

Requirements

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • No educational requirement. Must have ability to perform basic arithmetic, understand measurements, and follow written and oral instructions.

  • Food Handler certification obtained within 60 days of hire as required by state guidelines, if state certification program exists.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • Solid communication skills, attention to detail and multi-tasking skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to anticipate resident needs.
  • Ability to read, write and speak English sufficient to perform job duties and to interact and communicate with residents, vendors, and team members.

ENVIRONMENTAL AND PHYSICAL ACTIVITY REQUIREMENTS: The daily responsibilities of this position constantly require effective talking, hearing, walking, standing and repetitive motion. This position often involves light work, exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. Must have visual acuity to determine the accuracy, neatness and thoroughness of work assigned. The functions of this position are conducted in a temperature-controlled environment and not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions and may routinely be exposed to communicable diseases, blood borne pathogens, cleaning chemicals, dust, odors, and a variety of different pets.


INTELLECTUAL/EMOTIONAL REQUIREMENTS: The occupant of this position must be able to perform the responsibilities of the position well under pressure. The position requires adaptability to performing a variety of duties, often changing from one task to another without loss of efficiency or composure. This position requires the ability to deal with and find resolution to problems and maintain a productive working relationship with team members and may be interrupted frequently to meet the needs and requests of others. It also requires adaptability to fluctuate between priorities on a daily basis while being responsive to needs as they arise.


OSHA Category Classification:

Category III: Tasks that involve no exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues, and Category I tasks are not a condition of employment.

The normal work routine involves no exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues, although situations can be imagined or hypothesized under which anyone, anywhere, might encounter potential exposure to body fluids.
