As the Director of AI Engineering at SEON, you will be responsible for heading up AI-driven innovation and engineering across all our locations. This includes spearheading the formation of an applied research group, setting strategic direction for AI initiatives that align with our goal of becoming the AI-driven command center for risk and compliance teams, and effective utilization of state-of-the-art technologies to enhance our fraud prevention products, and deliver value to our customers.

This includes spearheading the recruitment and development of a robust team skilled in AI engineering and data science, setting strategic direction for data initiatives that align with our goal of transitioning into an AI-centric company. The role involves close collaboration with other departments to integrate data-driven decision-making and AI capabilities across the organization, thereby playing a pivotal role in our rapid growth and evolution.

• Strategic Leadership and Vision: Develop and implement a comprehensive AI strategy that aligns with the company’s objectives to transition into an AI-focused organization. Provide vision and leadership for developing and supporting AI initiatives.

• Team Building and Management: Lead the recruitment, development, and management of the AI engineering and applied AI research teams across all locations. Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the team.

• AI Infrastructure, Architecture and Governance: Oversee the design, development, and management of robust, highly scalable, and compliant AI infrastructure and product capabilities that support the company’s AI initiatives.

• Cross-functional Collaboration: Serve as the principal AI leader and consultant to the Product and Engineering teams, ensuring seamless, high-impact integration of AI innovation into SEON’s core product suite.

• Innovation and Research: Keep abreast of industry trends and advancements in AI and data science. Advocate for and lead the adoption of cutting-edge technologies and methodologies to maintain and enhance the company’s competitive edge.
  

• Educational Background: Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Data Science or a related field.

• Professional Experience: Proven experience in a leadership role within engineering or data science, preferably in a tech scaleup organization. Experience managing cross-locational teams is highly desirable.

• Technical Expertise: Strong foundation in data science and machine learning methodologies, experience in designing and delivering large scale Generative AI applications in cloud environments (AWS, GCP, or Azure) is required.

• SaaS Experience: Track record of working on cloud-based SaaS products is required

• Identity Verification Experience: Experience building identity verification or KYC products is a strong plus.

• Strategic Thinking: Ability to develop and execute a long-term AI strategy that aligns with business goals and drives innovation.

• Leadership Skills: Demonstrated leadership abilities across multiple locations. Experience in hiring, mentoring, and developing high-performing engineering teams.

• Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate data-driven insights and strategies to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

• Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a track record of driving projects from concept through completion.

• Adaptability: Flexible and adaptable in a fast-paced and rapidly changing environment.
