Position Summary

The P2P & Master Data Director Analyst is a role responsible for providing expert guidance to Gartner clients on managing the end-to-end procure to pay lifecycle and how to successfully ensure the integrity, accuracy, and governance of the procurement organization's master data and analytics.

This role will need to be able to advise both technical teams and business stakeholders, on the successful leveraging of procurement data analytics to optimize purchasing decisions, improve operational efficiency, and maintain a "single source of truth" for vendor and material master data.

Successful candidates will not only demonstrate technical expertise but also exhibit the "Litmus Test" competencies of critical thinking, compelling communication, and a results-driven mindset.---

Key Experience & Expertise on the following topics:

Comprehensive Procure-to-Pay (P2P) Process Management

· End-to-End P2P Lifecycle Management: Experience managing the full P2P cycle, including Purchase Requisitions (PR), Purchase Orders (PO), Goods Receipts P-Cards (GRN), invoice processing, and the support of payment execution.

· P2P Collaboration with AP: Experience working with Accounts Payable on the successful execution of the payment process and collaborating with Accounts Payable teams for swift issue resolution.

· System Configuration & Support: Experience configuring and support S2P \ P2P modules (e.g., SAP MM, Oracle). Demonstrated experience and ability to resolve P2P system issues (P1/P2 tickets).

· Source 2 Pay Process: Strong knowledge of Source to Pay Processes including strategic sourcing, selection of suppliers, procurement of goods and services to payment management.

· Process Mapping: High level of experience procurement process mapping for all functional areas within the procurement function.

· Procurement Outsourcing: Experience of analysing the need for and best practice management of procurement function outsourcing and shared services.

· Procurement Operations: Strong knowledge in relation to Tail Spend Management, Buying Channels & Contract Management.

2. Master Data Management (MDM) & Governance

· Data Stewardship: Experience serving as the guardian of master data (vendors, materials, customers), implementing policies and standards to ensure accuracy and consistency across systems.

· Data Quality & Cleansing: Experience Identifying data weaknesses or inconsistencies and perform cleansing and enrichment to create a reliable "single source of truth".

· Hierarchy & Taxonomy Management: Maintain and map data standards, taxonomies, and hierarchies within MDM platforms (e.g., Informatica) and ERP systems.

3. Strategic Analysis & Optimization

· Spend & Performance Analysis: Collect and interpret procurement data to track spending patterns, assess supplier performance, and identify cost-saving opportunities.

· Process Improvement: Analyse trends to diagnose inefficiencies and design new processes (e.g., drop-ship workflows, intercompany STO) that drive operational excellence.

· Supplier Management Process: Experience managing Supplier Onboarding, Supplier Off-Boarding, Supplier Qualification, Quality Processes.

· Procurement Policy: Strong Knowledge of Procurement Policy include guiding principles detailed processes clear roles/responsibilities, achieving organizational goals through responsible purchasing.

· Domain & Quantitative Expertise: Demonstrates deep understanding of P2P functions and MDM standards. Effectively builds and tests quantitative models, spotting patterns in qualitative and quantitative information to support business decisions.

· Data-Driven Decision Making: Uses "informed skepticism" when assessing data, understanding the limits of what a given analysis can show, and using facts to help stakeholders realize when they are solving the wrong problem.

· Drives for Results: Takes an entrepreneurial approach to the role, focusing on outcomes that bring value to the organization. Avoids the trap of "pursuing perfection" at the cost of delay; works in a goal-directed way against timeframes.

Qualifications & Skills

· Education: Minimum Bachelor’s degree in a Procurement or Supply Chain Management discipline, Business Administration, Data Science, or related field.

· Technical Proficiency:

o Experience with S2P \ P2P systems (SAP MM, Oracle SCM, PeopleSoft) and MDM platforms (Informatica) is essential.

o Proficiency in data analysis tools (Excel, SQL, Power BI).

o Knowledge of AI-driven automation tools for invoice validation is a plus.

· Experience: Proven experience in a P2P, Procurement, or Data Analyst role, with specific exposure to Master Data governance.

· Key Soft Skills: Strong analytical capabilities, excellent communication skills for articulating complex insights, and the ability to negotiate favourable terms with suppliers.

Gartner believes in fair and equitable pay. A reasonable estimate of the base salary range for this role is 148,000 USD - 175,500 USD. Please note that actual salaries may vary within the range, or be above or below the range, based on factors including, but not limited to, education, training, experience, professional achievement, business need, and location. In addition to base salary, employees will participate in either an annual bonus plan based on company and individual performance, or a role-based, uncapped sales incentive plan.
