Advance Local is looking for a Director, Audience Strategy to lead the advancement of audience segmentation, modeling and insight generation to drive data-informed strategy and product innovation across the organization. In this role, you’ll develop and refine the vision for how audiences fuel data products, guiding the creation of new audience models, shaping scalable audience frameworks, and ensuring alignment with broader data and monetization goals. You’ll play a central role in translating audience insights into actionable strategies that enhance product development, strengthen market positioning, and support organizational decision-making. This role also oversee the evolution of integrated audience insight products, performance tracking, and go-to-market strategies, ensuring that audience solutions are both analytically rigorous and commercially impactful.


Compensation for this position is comprised of a base salary plus incentive compensation.  The base salary range is $125,000 - $145,000.  Additional incentives bring total potential compensation to $150,000 - $174,000.


This is a fully remote position.


What you’ll be doing:

  • Lead the strategy, design and development of audience models and data-driven audience products aligned with organizational and monetization goals
  • Develop and refine scalable audience segmentation frameworks that guide how audiences are defined, modeled, and refreshed across products and platforms.
  • Use internal data tools and platforms to generate tailored audience insights for client work, marketing, campaigns, and strategic initiatives.
  • Define and maintains requirements, feature definitions and success criteria for new audience products and enhancements.
  • Oversee the performance and evolutions of audience insight products, ensuring quality, documentation, and continuous improvement.
  • Establish standardized reporting processes, insight templates, and audience documentation to ensure consistency and scalability.
  • Identify, prioritize, and shape new audience and data product opportunities informed by market trends, client needs, and research.
  • Work with data teams to define KPI’s and automate recurring audience insights that track performance and business impact.
  • Lead the integration of research outputs into audience strategy, developing case studies and strategic narratives for client and internal use.

Our ideal candidate will have the following:

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, data science, business or a related field
  • Minimum eight years’ related audience data insights experience
  • Experience working cross-functionally with multiple departments
  • Proven track record of driving business growth through data implementation and audience insights
  • Demonstrated ability to thrive in an agile environment, effectively managing complex projects with customers and internal stakeholders
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully influence internal and external stakeholders
  • Experience deriving and presenting insights to business leaders, including developing data-driven narratives for client engagements, campaigns, and webinars
  • Ability to collaborate with technical teams to understand tradeoffs and translate customer insights into productized data solutions, new audience offerings, and feature strategies
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with an emphasis on strong storytelling and data visualization
  • Experience with KPI development, reporting automation, and performance tracking
