The Director, Commercial Systems, Data Management, & Governance is responsible for leading the design, development, implementation, and maintenance of Alumis’ commercial data environment to establish a single source of truth for the commercial organization. The Director manages the commercial data lifecycle from acquisition, integration, quality, stewardship, governance, reporting, and enablement, and is responsible for the successful development of a scalable commercial data ecosystem through modern data, analytics, digital platforms, and AI capabilities. This individual serves as a significant partner to commercial leadership and IT, and helps ensure the organization operates from accurate, accessible, and decision-ready data.
Key Responsibilities:
- Build and manage the commercial data environment in collaboration with IT
- Lead and coordinate commercial data integration strategies, priorities, and solutions in partnership with IT, internal stakeholders, and external vendors
- Ensure seamless, timely and accurate ingestion, validation/QC, and integration of multiple internal and external data sources (specialty pharmacy, specialty distributor, hub, patient services, syndicated, prescription, claims, formulary, omnichannel, affiliations, CRM, etc.)
- In collaboration with IT, standup cloud-based data management environment and manage ongoing operations; design and implement data governance frameworks, including data ownership and stewardship models, data quality standards and monitoring, establishing consistent business rules and definitions, etc.
- Identify secondary data providers and facilitate data purchases with other members of the commercial organization
- Define and lead the commercial data and Master Data Management (MDM) strategy across key commercial entities (e.g., HCP, HCO, accounts, affiliations)
- Ensure a unified and trusted “golden record” across CRM, data warehouse, and downstream systems
- Implement stewardship processes to maintain data integrity and consistency at scale
- Guide the compliant design of the CRM across field teams
- Monitor department performance against key performance indicators and collaborate with commercial leadership to implement improvements
- Assist Training and Development with creation and implementation of systems training
- Lead the responsible adoption of AI and advanced analytics capabilities and tools across the commercial organization, including predictive analytics, machine learning, and generative AI
- Demonstrate strong understanding of AI/ML models, model performance, efficiency, and algorithm explainability
- Lead and govern advanced analytics projects, predictive analytics, and AI/machine learning solutions supporting brand strategy, launch planning, patient support, segmentation, targeting, omnichannel optimization, next-best-action, and customer engagement optimization
- Establish best practices for prompt engineering, AI usage training, and AI governance to ensure safe, effective adoption in partnership with IT, internal stakeholders, and external vendors
- Ensure practices comply with company policies and applicable privacy, security, transparency, promotional, and healthcare requirements in partnership with legal and IT
Professional Experience / Qualifications:
- 10+ years of direct experience in commercial data strategy, data management, systems (Data Warehousing, CRM, MDM, BI, Omnichannel, AI), data governance, sales operations in the biopharmaceutical industry
- Prior launch experience at an emerging biotech required; active member of commercial launch team with understanding of cross-functional dependencies and processes
- Extensive experience designing and implementing commercial data warehouse and governance frameworks, master data management (MDM) solutions, enterprise data ecosystems integrating CRM and omnichannel data, and BI system design and reporting platforms
- Deep understanding of data architecture, schema design, and data lifecycle management; strong experience in data governance, data quality, and data stewardship processes
- Experience enabling analytics through well-structured, governed data and emerging AI capabilities; robust knowledge of third-party commercial data sources
- Proven leadership capabilities, including influencing cross-functional partners; ability to proactively challenge internal assumptions and go beyond the "obvious" answer
- Strong presentation skills with ability to effectively communicate complex concepts; concise and impactful written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to independently solve difficult problems through rigorous application of logic, as well as ability to find creative solutions where needed
- Ability to deliver value-added results that meet high quality requirements within tight deadlines and to manage third-party vendors effectively on time and within budget
Preferred Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Data Analytics, Data Science, Statistics, Business Administration or Life Sciences or equivalent experience; graduate degree a plus
The salary range for this position is $210,000-$260,000 USD annually. This salary range is an estimate, and the actual salary may very based on the Company’s compensation practices.
Alumis compensation packages include generous stock option grants for all employees as well as an annual bonus program.
