About the role

  • The Director of Events & Conference Business Operations is a strategic leader responsible for driving growth, optimizing financial performance, and ensuring operational excellence across The Channel Company's global events portfolio. This role blends strategic planning, sales enablement, and client success with hands-on execution of high-impact conferences and custom events.

What you'll do

  • Strategic & Financial Leadership
    • Develop and execute a multi-year growth strategy for events and conferences, aligned with corporate goals.
    • Own P&L accountability for the events business, including forecasting, budgeting, and performance tracking.
    • Identify and capitalize on upsell and cross-sell opportunities across media, content, and sponsorships.
    • Lead pricing strategy, margin optimization, and cost control initiatives.
  • Sales Enablement & Revenue Growth
    • Partner with sales leadership to standardize sales communications, training, and rollout plans.
    • Equip sales teams with tools and insights to improve productivity, customer engagement, and ROI.
  • Client Success & Experience
    • Define and measure success through client outcomes, satisfaction, and program impact.
    • Lead initiatives to personalize engagement strategies based on customer personas and data.
    • Oversee delivery of custom events and ensure high-quality execution across all touchpoints.
  • Operational Excellence
    • Streamline event operations by reducing manual processes and implementing scalable systems.
  • Team Leadership & Collaboration
    • Influence on cross-functional teams including program managers, sales, marketing, and customer success.
    • Foster a unified culture focused on transparency, accountability, and strategic alignment.
    • Mentor and develop talent across the events organization.

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of experience in event business operations & strategy.
  • Proven track record of driving revenue growth and operational efficiency.
  • Strong understanding of sales enablement, client success, and financial management.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and project management skills.
  • Experience with CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce), O365, and event tech platforms.
  • Bachelor’s degree required; MBA or equivalent preferred.
