Your Mission as Director of Experience Design:
Lead and elevate Energage’s design practice to deliver unified, human-centered, and data-informed experiences across our unified people platform. This is a strategic and hands-on leadership role that shapes how design influences product vision, discovery, and delivery.

Accountability and Impact:
In this role, you’ll… 

  • Lead and advance a fully functioning UX design capability working in a highly integrated Agile Scrum team with product managers, engineers, People, and Data Scientists
  • Develop a team of designers, supporting, among other things, their ability to focus, their capability to work independently, as well as their professional growth
  • Leading experience-related initiatives with cross-functional teams (Marketing, Product, Go-To-Market, Customer Success, etc.)
  • Collaborate across product development disciplines to ensure the delivery of compelling and usable experiences
  • Leading Energage’s efforts to ensure our products provide a valuable experience to all users, regardless of an individual's physical or cognitive ability
  • Chair Energage’s Front End Guild, chartered with taking a “whole of business” approach to advancing customer experiences
  • Communicate principles and methods in experience and visual design disciplines and have a strong command of related disciplines, including available research methodologies
  • Guide the implementation of the latest customer discovery, research techniques, and testing activities to validate user problems and opportunities
  • Ensure the creation, management, and support of effective design operations, applications, and infrastructures.
  • Maintain a competitive edge against competitor products and industry trends.
  • Coaching teams on how to create user-centric designs by participating in and leading design critiques and iteration meetings
  • Developing goals, objectives, and action plans for the team and individuals
  • Working effectively within a product development process currently oriented around dual-track agile. 

What You Will Bring to the Role:

  • Proven record of leading design teams that built commercial software with measurable user and business outcomes.
  • Expert knowledge of modern UX and research methodologies, accessibility standards, and agile product delivery.
  • Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), Computer Science, Interaction Design, Industrial Design, Visual Design, or related expertise
  • Experience coaching teams using frameworks inspired by Marty Cagan and Teresa Torres, focusing on problem discovery, opportunity trees, and outcome-based goals.
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in design with a minimum of 3 years of experience managing a design team in a commercial software product company.
  • Demonstrates personal self-awareness and desire for continual learning and personal development
  • Experience with Figma, InVision, Sketch, FullStory, and/or related design operations technologies
  • Possess the presentation and other skills to project expertise and thought-leadership both internally and externally.
  • Experience working closely with Product Management, Engineering, and People Science leadership, as well as business stakeholders, to champion design-sensitive operations at every delivery step
  • Strong communication, storytelling, and influence skills at both executive and team levels.

Compensation and Benefits:

This position has a salary range of $180,000 to $200,000 annually based on relevant experience. This role is also company bonus eligible.

Energage is a remote workplace with employees in various US locations. While our employees enjoy the flexibility of daily remote work, they are also given the occasional opportunity for in person interaction. This includes in our office in Exton Pa, or in a coworking space/out in their local area. This role is available for remote work in the following states:
