Job Summary: 

We’re looking for a Director of Finance who thrives at the intersection of operations, systems, and strategic insight. This role leads the day-to-day financial operations of Whitestone, ensuring accuracy and discipline today while building the foundation needed to scale tomorrow.

The ideal candidate is both highly operational and forward-looking, with a strong command of financial data, systems, and processes, but equally skilled at translating that into clear insights that drive business decisions. They will bring structure to complexity, build scalable frameworks, and hold a high bar for accuracy and efficiency, while also partnering closely across the business to drive alignment and performance.

They’ll oversee core finance functions including accounting, treasury, budgeting, forecasting, and financial systems, with direct leadership of the accounting team. This is a hands-on leadership role where you’ll create and strengthen processes, improve reporting, and build a finance function that can support global growth. You’ll balance execution with leadership, ensuring strong day-to-day performance while developing the infrastructure, team, and cross-functional partnerships needed for the next stage of the company’s evolution.


Core Competencies:

  • Transactional Processing & Data Integrity: Establishes standards for transactional efficiency and data quality across all finance functions. Leads the documentation of all transactional SOPs. Oversees system interfaces to ensure data synchronization.
  • Internal Control & Compliance: Oversees the internal control environment for the entire department. Identifies systemic control weaknesses and develops corrective action plans. Ensures tax and regulatory filings are accurate and timely.
  • Period Close & Reconciliation: Optimizes the close process to reduce timeline and manual effort. Manages the relationship with the executive team regarding close deliverables and deadlines. Ensures consolidation processes are accurate.
  • Cross Collaboration with departments, vendors, and clients: Acts as a trusted financial advisor. Ensures responsiveness and transparency with internal and external stakeholders. Leads efforts to improve collaboration, consistency, and understanding.
  • Leadership & Talent Development: Mentors and develops the Finance team, building a culture grounded in strong processes, data integrity, and collaborative partnership across the business.


Essential Responsibilities: 

  • Oversee day-to-day accounting operations (AP, AR, invoicing), ensuring accurate and timely execution through the team
  • Manage and develop the Accounting team and Finance Systems Specialist, driving accountability, efficiency, and continuous improvement.
  • Own the integrity, accuracy, and completeness of all transactional financial data
  • Oversee monthly close activities, including invoicing and reconciliations, ensuring deadlines and quality standards are met
  • Establish and maintain strong internal controls and standardized processes across accounting functions
  • Identify, investigate, and resolve discrepancies, errors, and process breakdowns
  • Drive continuous improvement of finance workflows to increase efficiency, scalability, and accuracy
  • Set clear expectations, prioritize team workload, and allocate resources to meet business needs with diligent project planning
  • Provide ongoing coaching, training, and performance feedback, including formal review cycles
  • Build and maintain structured training programs and documentation through Whitestone University
  • Serve as the primary finance point of contact for internal departments, vendors, and clients
  • Translate finance priorities into clear processes and expectations for the team
  • Communicate proactively on financial processes, timelines, and issue resolution across stakeholders


Minimum Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field; CPA or MBA preferred
  • 8–10+ years of progressive finance experience, including leadership of accounting and finance operations
  • Experience in a high-growth environment, with exposure to scaling financial processes and systems
  • Experience in Promotional Products or similar industry is a plus
  • Strong hands-on experience with:
    • QuickBooks (Online or Enterprise)
    • Financial planning & analysis tools (e.g., Fathom or similar)
    • Tax and compliance tools (e.g., Avalara / AvaTax or equivalent)
  • Experience managing financial operations across multiple entities or geographies preferred
  • Experience with project management tools (Asana, or similar tool) 
  • Strong understanding of accounting fundamentals, financial reporting, and close processes
  • Proven ability to improve processes, implement systems, and drive operational efficiency
  • Effective communicator with the ability to translate financial data into clear, actionable insights
  • Familiarity with AI tools used in Finance and Accounting is a plus
