Director of Global Quality

Ferguson is hiring a US-based Director of Global Quality to drive global standards, governance, and alignment with enterprise priorities, supporting our 22 brands, which collectively generate approximately $3B in sales.

Location: This role is approved to be Remote anywhere in the US. Our preference would be for this position to be based at our Newport News, VA HQ. Relocation is an option for the right individual.

Role Objective

Lead and unify the global Quality Assurance and Control teams, driving the implementation and maintenance of consistent quality objectives for all products sourced and manufactured by the company. Ensure products are safe, compliant, and meet or exceed legal, regulatory, and industry standards. Foster strong collaboration and coordination with the Product Assurance (PA) team to deliver a unified strategy and standards for quality execution across the enterprise.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership

  • Champion the development and execution of a unified global quality strategy, aligning with Product Assurance and other key partners.
  • Set and maintain quality standards, systems, and processes to ensure compliance with all applicable legal, regulatory, and industry requirements.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives across quality teams and vendors.

Collaboration & Coordination

  • Work closely with the Product Assurance team to harmonize quality and compliance protocols, ensuring seamless communication and issue resolution.
  • Partner with Global Sourcing, Brand Leadership, Legal, and Product Development to support Own Brand product growth and mitigate risk.
  • Facilitate cross-functional teamwork to address product quality issues, recalls, and corrective actions.

Operational Excellence

  • Oversee the implementation of effective measurement and control systems, including audits, inspections, and vendor scorecards.
  • Ensure robust pre- and post-shipment inspection plans, aligned with company goals and product risk levels.
  • Manage the global quality team: recruiting, training, developing, and inspiring high performance.
  • Support and enforce corporate policies and initiatives related to quality.

Reporting & Continuous Improvement

  • Develop and maintain KPIs and reporting systems to measure quality performance and drive improvement.
  • Document findings, communicate results, and escalate issues as appropriate.
Preferred Qualifications & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality, or related field; advanced degree or certifications (CQE, CMQ/OE) preferred.
  • 10+ years’ experience in quality management, with proven leadership in global environments.
  • Experience in building collaborative relationships across functions and geographies.
  • Strong knowledge of global regulatory requirements for consumer and commercial products.
  • Familiarity with Lean, Six Sigma, and technology-driven quality management processes.
  • Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to operate in complex, fast-paced environments and manage multiple priorities.

Pay Range:

Actual pay rate may vary depending upon location. The estimated pay range for this position is below. The specific rate will depend on a candidate’s qualifications and prior experience.

$9,409.50 - $17,833.30

Estimated Ranges displayed are Monthly for Salaried roles OR Hourly for all other roles.

This role is Bonus or Incentive Plan eligible.
