WHO WE ARE

GridUnity is the industry leader in interconnection life cycle management, delivering cutting-edge software solutions that eliminate bottlenecks in the interconnection process and accelerate the transition to a more affordable, sustainable, and resilient energy future.

Our Mission

We unite all grid interconnection stakeholders on a single platform that converts centralized data into actionable intelligence and accelerates the transition to a reliable, sustainable, and cost-efficient electric grid.

GridUnity is a trusted partner to leading utilities, grid operators, and policymakers. Our technology solutions tackle the interconnection queue backlog by significantly reducing processing times. Whether cutting transmission interconnection timelines from years to months or enabling distribution applications to be processed within a day, we help accelerate energy projects at every scale.

Our Vision
Energizing the planet with a faster, smarter, and more sustainable grid.

About the role

This position reports to GridUnity’s Strategic Product Officer and will be responsible for evolving the strategy and roadmap for the technical capabilities the GridUnity Intelligence Platform provides to our national customer base. You will partner with GridUnity’s application product owners to ensure each new application launched and supported by GridUnity and its partner network leverages the platform in the most efficient manner.

You do this by helping set the vision for the platform components and capabilities and then keeping stakeholders aligned around the vision, the strategy for realizing this vision, and collaborating with the application product owners to ensure product management's approach to customer needs is clear to the engineering team. You ensure the engineering team maintains a well-defined understanding of the prioritized components, backlog and goals for each development increment, which is delivered through iterative Agile development. As the owner of both strategy and tactics, you will be a member of the Agile development team by specifying product requirements, planning development iterations, reviewing development progress, and accepting deliverables for release to customers.

Key Responsibilities

Platform strategy & roadmap

  • Own the strategic roadmap for GridUnity's Intelligence Platform components and coordinate delivery timing with the Director of Product Management.

  • Balance platform prioritization against the feature velocity Product Owners need; present and defend those trade-offs to leadership.

  • Set platform success metrics — API adoption, integration uptime/reliability, time-to-build for a new module, PO/developer satisfaction — and report against them.

Partnership with Engineering and Product Owners

  • Act as the primary product partner to infrastructure engineering.

  • Proactively educate product owners on platform components and engineering infrastructure so product teams always know what's changing and the benefits they deliver.

  • Run a lightweight intake process and make use of Jira component flags so Product Owners can request new platform capabilities or extensions, support Product Owners in testing customer satisfaction and needs.

  • Write epics, requirements, and acceptance criteria for platform initiatives; run backlog refinement and release planning with infrastructure engineering.

Data model & API stewardship

  • Own the core platform object model and its extension framework to support all new customers and regulatory requirements across the U.S.

  • Evolve and govern the developer API portal so internal Product teams and external partners can build against the growing set of platform capabilities.

Integration & ecosystem strategy

  • Own the GridUnity integration framework plan for third-party systems

  • Define integration requirements, SLAs, and support models with engineering, security, and customer-facing teams.

Platform quality, security & compliance

  • Champion performance, scalability, multi-tenant security, auditability, and regulatory/data compliance as first-class platform requirements.

  • Sequence platform-hardening work that protects utility and regulator customers' data.

Leadership & influence

  • Operate with high autonomy — set platform direction without formal authority over Product Owner teams, leading through influence, demonstrated value, and deep coordination with the Director of Product Management and Director of Product Enablement.

  • Represent platform capabilities and constraints in company planning, RFPs/customer conversations involving integration or configurability, and executive roadmap reviews.

  • Mentor and manage a team as the function grows.

Qualifications
  • 10+ years experience in B2B enterprise software organization(s), including 7+ years’ experience working in Product Management, including meaningful experience in a platform / infrastructure / technical Product Management role

  • Track record of successful SaaS based products developed and launched through your leadership

  • Energy/utility industry experience and knowledge is required

  • Experience in a utility, ISO/RTO, or developer with the interconnection, grid planning or utility-scale project development process is a plus

  • In-depth understanding of and experience with Agile software development methodology

  • Skilled in both written and verbal communication with the ability to transition seamlessly between technical and business content areas

  • Strong stakeholder management and comfortable prioritizing and resolving competing priorities

  • Highly organized with ability to stay on top of multiple projects, teams and deliverables

  • Ability to adapt to changing internal and external priorities

Education
  • Undergraduate degree in STEM field, or equivalent experience is preferred

OUR CULTURE

We are a lean, fast-moving team that values bold thinking, reliability, and continuous learning. We operate with radical transparency, embrace scrappiness, and build solutions that anticipate customer needs. We also believe work should be fun and fulfilling — what we call “funfillment.”

The right candidate is energized by working in a scaling, mission-driven company where they can shape processes, wear multiple hats, and grow alongside the business.

BENEFITS/PERKS

  • Competitive compensation packages that recognize your expertise and contributions

  • Remote-first culture that provides flexibility and balance

  • Professional development opportunities, including training, mentorship, and career pathing

  • Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance starting day one

  • Short- and long-term disability and basic life insurance at no cost to you

  • 401(k) plan with a 4% match to help secure your future

  • Flexible PTO and a supportive work culture that values balance

  • Mission-driven work with the opportunity to make a significant impact in the energy sector
