Red River Technologies is seeking a Director of Pre-Sales to lead and scale the pre-sales function for our Managed Services business. This role is responsible for aligning technical solution design with sales strategy, ensuring consistency, quality, and profitability across all managed services pursuits.

The Director of Pre-Sales will serve as the senior technical and solutioning leader supporting sales, driving best practices in discovery, solution architecture, pricing, and proposal development, while mentoring and developing a high-performing team of pre-sales engineers and architects.

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership & Strategy

  • Build, lead, and develop the Managed Services pre-sales team, including solution architects and technical sellers.
  • Define and execute the pre-sales strategy aligned with Red River’s managed services growth objectives.
  • Partner closely with Sales, Managed Services Operations, Product Management, and Finance to ensure solutions are scalable, supportable, and profitable.
  • Establish pre-sales standards, processes, and best practices across discovery, solution design, and proposal responses.

Sales & Solutioning Support

  • Act as the executive technical sponsor for complex and strategic managed services opportunities.
  • Oversee the design of managed services solutions including infrastructure, cloud, security, networking, and ongoing support offerings.
  • Ensure solution designs meet client requirements while aligning with Red River’s service delivery capabilities.
  • Support executive-level client conversations, presentations, and solution reviews.

Operational Excellence

  • Own pre-sales governance for managed services deals, including solution approval, pricing validation, and risk assessment.
  • Collaborate with delivery teams to ensure smooth handoffs from sales to implementation and ongoing service delivery.
  • Track and report on pre-sales performance metrics (win rates, cycle times, solution margin, resource utilization).
  • Continuously refine offerings based on market trends, customer feedback, and operational insights.

Enablement & Growth

  • Develop enablement programs to improve sales and pre-sales effectiveness in selling managed services.
  • Provide ongoing coaching and mentoring to sales and pre-sales team members.
  • Stay current on industry trends, competitive offerings, and emerging technologies to inform service strategy.

Required Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in IT services, managed services, or solutions consulting.
  • 5+ years of leadership experience managing pre-sales, solution architecture, or technical sales teams.
  • Deep understanding of managed services models, including SLAs, pricing, service delivery, and lifecycle management.
  • Strong background in infrastructure, cloud, security, and/or networking solutions.
  • Proven ability to partner with sales organizations and influence deal strategy.
  • Exceptional communication skills, with experience presenting to executive-level stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in a systems integrator or managed services provider (MSP) environment.
  • Familiarity with ITIL, service management frameworks, and recurring revenue models.
  • Experience building or scaling pre-sales teams.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical or business discipline (or equivalent experience).
