About BizScout

BizScout is a dynamic marketplace revolutionizing how businesses connect, grow, and transition ownership. We are seeking an experienced, entrepreneurial leader to grow and run our Private Client program, a concierge acquisition service for serious buyers, as an in-house expert based in Austin, Texas.

This role inherits a strong foundation and is responsible for taking it to the next level. You will own the program end-to-end: sharpening the process, structures, and systems that support our buyer clients; growing and leading a team; managing the program's budget; and expanding the client base of retail and institutional buyers who enter the program. You will personally manage clients and walk them through their acquisition journey, from intake through close. You will report directly to the VP, Head of Supply and work cross-functionally with Engineering, Marketing, and Operations to scale the program into a mature, market-leading business line.

The Role

The Role
Private Client is BizScout's retained buy-side offering. A serious buyer pays us to help find them a business, underwrite it, and get them to a closing table. There's a pricing model and a GTM plan, but there's no mature machine here yet, no proven playbook for sourcing at volume, no team beyond a sourcing function, no system that reliably turns a paying client into a closed acquisition. You're not stepping into a function that runs itself. You're building the thing that turns twenty clients into two hundred, and one closed deal into a repeatable outcome.
This is two jobs.

  • Run the program that exists today. Manage a live roster of paying clients personally, sourcing, underwriting, deal evaluation, closing table, while it's still small enough that you're in the work, not just managing people who are.
  • Build the program that doesn't exist yet. The process, the team, the tooling, and the growth motion that let this scale past a handful of hand-held engagements. You define what "good" looks like here because nobody has yet.

We're looking for someone who has built a client-facing program from a handful of accounts into a real business line before, not someone who wants to inherit a functioning org chart.

What You'll Own
  • The client roster. Personally manage a portfolio of Private Client engagements end to end: intake, qualification, underwriting, deal evaluation, close.
  • Growth of the program. Grow the client roster using outbound, referrals, partnerships, and BizScout's existing marketplace reach.
  • The team, as it's built. Hire, ramp, and manage the sourcing function and whatever program team grows around it. There isn't a bench today. You're building one.
  • The system. Process, CRM, reporting, and tooling that make the program repeatable instead of dependent on any one person's judgment call, including yours.
  • The budget. Own program spend, headcount, tooling, marketing, and make the trade-offs that grow the line without bleeding margin.
  • Cross-functional build-out. Partner with Engineering and Operations on the tooling this program doesn't have yet, and with Marketing on the growth channels it hasn't tested.
What You Bring

Be ready to walk us through each of these.

  • You've built a client-facing program from a small base, not inherited one. A handful of accounts to a real book of business, with the process and team to match. Tell us what it looked like when you started and what you built.
  • You have real M&A judgment. You can underwrite a deal, evaluate a business, and advise a buyer through a close. This isn't a job where you can lean on someone else's diligence.
  • You've owned a budget and made real trade-offs with it, headcount, tooling, spend, and lived with the consequences.
  • You've grown a client base yourself, not just managed one that showed up. Outbound, referrals, partnerships, whatever it takes at this stage.
  • You're comfortable being hands-on far longer than title suggests. There's no team to delegate to yet. Early on, you're the one on the calls and in the deals.
  • You have the judgment and discretion to be the face of the program to buyers, brokers, and sellers, often with sensitive financial information on the table.
  • 3+ years in private equity (deal execution or portfolio ops preferred), consulting, or business brokerage/M&A advisory.
You're Probably Not the Right Fit If
  • You want to inherit a mature program with a built-out team and playbook already in place
  • You've only worked inside functions someone else built, with enablement and process handed to you
  • You want to hand off client work quickly and move to pure management
  • Your answer to slow growth is "hire more people" before "fix the system"
  • You need infrastructure, CRM, reporting, a team, in place before you can be effective
Position Details
  • Reports to: VP, Head of Supply
  • Direct reports: Sourcing team today; the program team as it's built out
  • Compensation: $250K OTE with flexibility above this range for the right candidate; compensation includes base salary and performance-based commission tied to program revenue
  • Location: Austin, Texas, 5 days in-office required; travel up to 50% as needed
  • Experience: 3+ years in private equity, consulting, or business brokerage/M&A advisory
