We offer merchants an end-to-end payments solution that provides authorization and settlement capabilities, as well as instant access to funds and payouts. We also help merchants connect with their customers, process exchanges and returns, and manage risk. We enable consumers to engage in cross-border shopping and merchants to extend their global reach while reducing the complexity and friction involved in enabling cross-border trade.

Job Summary:

This role drives PayPal's agentic commerce growth strategy by establishing the company as the trusted enablement layer for AI-powered commerce across leading LLM platforms including OpenAI, Google, Microsoft, Perplexity, Amazon, Meta, and more. The Director will lead go-to-market initiatives that scale merchant adoption, negotiate and manage strategic AI platform partnerships, and position PayPal as the protocol-agnostic translation layer for agentic commerce. This job drives revenue growth, leads sales enablement efforts, develops business strategy, influences product outcomes, aligns product levers, engages with product teams, represents the end customer, and collaborates with stakeholders across PayPal. It involves ensuring successful delivery of solutions and maximizing market expansion opportunities.

Job Description:

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Drive revenue growth and global market expansion by identifying and cultivating strategic partnerships, channels, and opportunities
  • Lead the negotiation with external partners and engage cross-functional support colleagues to ensure the successful delivery of solutions for large complex partnerships.
  • Develop and execute an overall business strategy to identify and cultivate strategic partnerships, channels, and opportunities to drive revenue growth and global market expansion.
  • Influence the negotiation with external partners, engaging cross-functional support colleagues, to ensure successful delivery of solutions for large complex partnerships.
  • Align product and business levers (such as pricing and FX) to maximize revenue and market expansion opportunities.
  • Engage closely with product, engineering, and architecture teams to drive the architectural runway and determine the best technical implementation/design.
  • Represent the end customer on an ongoing basis and use this knowledge to drive effective prioritization and decision-making.
  • Collaborate and influence product outcomes in a matrix organization with multiple stakeholders such as Engineering, Operations, Risk, Legal, Sales, Business Development, Marketing, Finance, and Banking Partners.

Expected Qualifications:

  • 10+ years relevant experience and a Bachelor’s degree OR Any equivalent combination of education and experience.

Additional Responsibilities & Preferred Qualifications:

Agentic Commerce Product Strategy & Positioning

  • Refine PayPal's product differentiation in agentic commerce trust infrastructure, payments, and orchestration capabilities
  • Collaborate on product roadmap priorities for agentic commerce capabilities including OMS integration, commerce protocol support, Smart Wallet development, and Computer Using Agent (CUA) technology
  • Translate complex technical capabilities into merchant-focused value propositions that lead with business outcomes

Sales Enablement & Commercial Readiness

  • Develop comprehensive sales enablement programs including pitch decks, ROI calculators, competitive battle cards, and partnership-specific positioning for each AI platform integration
  • Design and deliver training programs for sales, business development, and partner management teams on agentic commerce value propositions, technical requirements, and merchant qualification criteria
  • Create scalable assets and frameworks that enable sales teams to showcase PayPal's agentic commerce capabilities across different merchant verticals and use cases

Merchant Adoption & GTM Execution

  • Design and execute merchant adoption programs that drive integration across AI platforms, tracking readiness metrics and transaction volume growth as primary success indicators
  • Build scalable merchant enablement frameworks addressing integration complexity, technical requirements, and business case ROI for agentic commerce participation
  • Lead vertical-specific GTM strategies targeting high-potential categories, verticals, and demographic segments for accelerated adoption

Market Intelligence & Competitive Strategy

  • Maintain competitive intelligence on known and emerging players in agentic commerce, identifying strategic opportunities and threats
  • Analyze merchant transaction patterns, AI agent behavior, and platform performance data to inform strategic decisions and product investment priorities
  • Develop thought leadership positioning through industry conferences, executive briefings, and strategic communications that establish PayPal as the category leader in agentic commerce

AI Platform Partnership Management & Orchestration

  • Contribute to strategic negotiations and relationship management with major AI platform partners (OpenAI, Google, Microsoft, Perplexity, Amazon, Meta, and more), ensuring PayPal maintains platform neutrality while delivering platform-specific value
  • Develop and execute coordinated launch strategies across multiple AI platforms, managing complex interdependencies and timeline commitments while balancing competitive positioning
  • Establish contractual frameworks that enable PayPal’s agentic commerce strategy, ensure wallet visibility in AI interfaces, and manage data sharing arrangements

Cross-Functional Orchestration & Stakeholder Management

  • Align Product, Engineering, Marketing, Legal, Risk, and Finance partners on agentic commerce priorities, ensuring coordinated execution across complex partnership commitments
  • Contribute to board-level and executive communications on partnership strategy, financial commitments, and strategic positioning, maintaining transparency while driving decision-making
  • Build and scale the agentic commerce GTM organization establishing operational frameworks for multi-partner coordination

The base pay for this role will depend on where you work and the relevant experience and expertise you bring. The expected range of pay for this role by location is:

Chicago, Illinois | ($160,500.00 - $238,700.00 Annually) Austin, Texas | ($160,500.00 - $238,700.00 Annually) Additional compensation for this role may include an annual performance bonus, equity, or other incentive compensation, as applicable.
