About VulnCheck

Exploitation prevention is only as strong as the intelligence driving those efforts, and most of the industry is still running on intelligence that lacks exploit context. VulnCheck, The Exploit Intelligence Company, delivers structured exploit intelligence on what is actively weaponized in the wild, purpose-built for the data lakes, ETL pipelines, automation, and AI and LLM workflows your infrastructure already runs on, raising the capability of everything it powers. VulnCheck's proprietary data is consumed directly by security teams and also licensed and integrated by other organizations — including enterprises, government agencies, and other cybersecurity vendors — into their own products and workflows.

About the Role

The Sr. Director, Product Marketing will build and lead product marketing as a foundational function within VulnCheck's marketing organization, reporting directly to the CMO. This is not a content role — it's a core product marketing function responsible for defining who we sell to, how we position and message our products, how we bring new products to market, and how our field and community understand and communicate our value. The ideal candidate is technically fluent in cybersecurity and comfortable operating at both the strategic level (ICP definition, positioning frameworks, GTM strategy) and the hands-on level (writing messaging, building enablement, running launches). This role is expected to bring on its first hire within 6–12 months as the function scales. This is a 100% remote role with preference for candidates located in the Boston, MA or Greater Austin, TX region.

What You’ll Do
  • ICP & Persona Development: Define and continuously refine VulnCheck's ideal customer profiles and buyer/user personas across our full customer base — enterprise security teams, government and public sector agencies, and other cybersecurity vendors and data partners who license and integrate VulnCheck's intelligence into their own products.
  • Positioning & Messaging: Own core product positioning and messaging frameworks that differentiate VulnCheck's exploit intelligence in a crowded vulnerability management and threat intel landscape, including how we position our data as a licensable, integratable asset for partners as well as a platform for direct users. Ensure positioning is understood and used consistently across the company.
  • Product Launches & New Product Content: Lead GTM strategy and execution for new product and feature launches, partnering closely with Product to translate technical capabilities into market-ready narratives, launch plans, and supporting assets — including website copy, research reports, and sales collateral.
  • Field Enablement: Equip the sales team with the tools, training, battlecards, and content they need to sell effectively across all customer segments — including competitive positioning, objection handling, and use-case/vertical-specific selling assets.
  • Community & Industry Engagement: Partner with the community and customers to capture real-world proof points and success stories, and represent VulnCheck's product story at industry events, webinars, and analyst conversations, including flagship security conferences such as Black Hat and DEF CON.
  • Analyst Relations: Own the analyst relations program end-to-end — building and managing relationships with industry analysts, coordinating briefings and inquiries, and ensuring VulnCheck's positioning is reflected accurately in analyst coverage.
  • Market & Competitive Intelligence: Run continuous competitive analysis and market research across our full competitive landscape to sharpen positioning and inform how we compete.
  • Team Building: Build the product marketing function from the ground up — establishing processes and priorities as an initial IC, then hiring and developing a team as scope grows (expected within 6–12 months).
What You’ll Bring
  • 8+ years of product marketing experience in B2B cybersecurity technology, with meaningful experience in one or more of the following segments: threat intelligence, vulnerability management, attack surface management/CTEM, or EDR/XDR.
  • Prior people leadership or a clear track record of being ready to hire and manage within the first year, paired with comfort operating as a hands-on IC in the interim.
  • Technical fluency in cybersecurity — comfortable engaging directly with vulnerability data, exploit intelligence concepts, and technical buyers/practitioners. No engineering degree required, but candidates should be able to speak credibly to technical audiences without a Sales Engineer in the room.
  • Demonstrated ownership of ICP/persona development and core positioning & messaging at a previous company, not just execution against someone else's framework.
  • Facility in positioning and messaging a product to a mixed customer base — including enterprise security buyers, government/public sector, and technical partners who license and integrate data or APIs into their own products (data-as-a-product or OEM-style positioning experience is a strong plus).
  • Experience leading product launches end-to-end, from GTM strategy through cross-functional execution with Product and Sales.
  • Proven ability to craft messaging that resonates with both technical and executive audiences across VulnCheck's TAM and persona set.
  • Strong track record supporting sales teams through enablement tools and field-facing content.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills.
  • Comfort working in a fast-paced, startup environment with a collaborative and hands-on mindset
