We are Route

Buying stuff online can get messy once you hit that “order” button. Managing dozens carrier tracking links, dealing with lost or damaged packages, and resolving issues with customer support can feel like a wild goose chase. That’s why we created the Route  — to make the post-purchase experience for consumers like you, and the brands you love, as seamless as possible.

Route is on a mission to connect the world’s commerce. Through our network of millions of Route App users and thousands of merchants, we’re making it easier than ever for consumers to track, insure, and discover their favorite products in one place — which connects the world’s best direct-to-consumer brands to happy, repeat customers.

Since Route launched in 2018, we’ve been on a journey to build innovative products that empower our customers, all while fostering a people-first, values-driven company culture. We’re looking for talented people across the ecommerce space to join us on the next steps of this adventure.

Don’t just take our word for it! Discover what life at Route has to offer.

The opportunity

Route is in the midst of an exciting evolution — scaling new product lines, deepening our enterprise footprint, and building a platform that redefines how merchants and consumers connect after purchase. With strong product-market fit and a high-performing sales motion in place, we’re ready to unlock our next chapter of growth — and we need a marketing leader who can translate product innovation into market momentum.

As the Director of Product Marketing, you’ll own the strategy and execution of how Route shows up in the world. You’ll define our positioning, shape compelling go-to-market strategies, and ensure our messaging and enablement reflect the sophistication of our platform — especially as we bring more technically complex and AI-driven products to market. From driving launch strategy to influencing enterprise deal cycles, you’ll serve as a critical bridge between what we build and how customers experience its value.

We’re also looking for someone who actively embraces AI — using it as a force multiplier in both personal workflows and in terms of business impact. Whether it's generating content, accelerating research, surfacing insights, or scaling experimentation, you’ll bring a strong intuition for where and how AI can be applied to elevate marketing performance and efficiency.

The team

As the Director of Product Marketing at Route, you’ll join a high-impact Product organization focused on delivering world-class post-purchase experiences for consumers and merchants. Reporting directly to the Chief Product Officer, you’ll play a critical role in shaping how our products are positioned, brought to market, and ultimately adopted.

You’ll be a key cross-functional leader — partnering closely with Product, Sales, Customer Success, and RevOps — to ensure our product strategy and customer-facing narratives are tightly aligned. Your work will directly influence how we define value, win deals, and grow accounts. You’ll start by managing a contractor and have the opportunity to scale the team as we grow and expand into new markets.

This is a highly visible, strategic role at the intersection of product innovation and customer impact — ideal for a marketer who thrives in fast-paced environments, loves bringing clarity to complexity, and is eager to help define how Route shows up in the world.

What you’ll do

  • Own product positioning and messaging — Craft clear, differentiated, and technically fluent narratives that translate complex and AI-driven capabilities into compelling customer value across all segments and channels.
  • Lead go-to-market strategy and execution — Drive product and feature launches in close partnership with Product, Sales, and Customer teams, ensuring strategic alignment, internal readiness, and successful market adoption.
  • Generate customer and competitive insights — Conduct research, interviews, and analysis to deeply understand customer needs, technical buyer behavior, and the evolving AI landscape — and apply those insights to inform roadmap and GTM strategy.
  • Develop sales enablement tools — Build and maintain high-impact assets such as pitch decks, battlecards, demo scripts, and technical guides to help Sales and Success teams confidently communicate value and close deals.
  • Drive product adoption and revenue expansion — Collaborate on lifecycle strategies that increase engagement, retention, and upsell — including in-product messaging, onboarding flows, and targeted customer content.
  • Leverage AI to enhance marketing execution — Use AI tools to accelerate personal productivity, deepen insight generation, and unlock scalable experimentation — while championing AI-powered innovation across the marketing function.

What we’re looking for

  • 8–12+ years of B2B SaaS marketing experience, with deep expertise in product marketing and a proven track record launching and scaling technical or AI-driven products.
  • Exceptional positioning and messaging skills, with the ability to translate complex capabilities into compelling narratives for both business and technical audiences.
  • Strong go-to-market leadership, including experience aligning cross-functional teams across Product, Sales, and Customer Success to drive launch success and revenue impact.
  • Comfort with technical complexity and enterprise sales, including familiarity with technical buyer needs and supporting long-cycle, high-consideration deal motions.
  • Confident, consistent use of AI tools (e.g., for content, research, ideation, or automation), and a demonstrated interest in applying AI to marketing workflows and outcomes.
  • Team builder and hands-on leader, with experience managing contractors or vendors and a desire to grow and mentor a small team.
  • Data-driven and execution-oriented, with strong prioritization skills and a bias for action in fast-paced environments.
