Leading the Active Intelligence transformation

ActiveCampaign’s Active Intelligence platform — autonomous AI agents working for 180,000+ growing businesses — is redefining how marketing works. As our Director of Product Marketing, you’ll lead its transformation in the market: shape how customers understand it, drive adoption that compounds, and transform the Product Marketing discipline in the process. This is a rare chance to define a category as it’s being born. Autonomous marketing is here — and you’ll be the person who makes the market understand what it means. Few go-to-market roles anywhere come with this canvas.

Product and Product Marketing operate as a single strategic arm, sharing context, tools, and accountability. You’ll carry the same context as the people building the product and the same accountability for what happens when it meets the market.

This is a senior leadership seat for someone who still builds and is leaning into AI to reinvent the product marketing craft. You’ll set the strategy and own the outcome for how Active Intelligence reaches the market — and you’ll lead the positioning and narrative yourself, using AI to operate at a founder’s speed and an executive’s altitude at once. You lead by doing.

We move fast, choose experimentation over process, and back people who see a gap and take it. You’ll have real ownership from day one — and the room to be resourceful with it.

On a typical day, you might:

  • Lead the Product Marketing team and raise the bar for the craft — setting the strategy and the standard others rise to.
  • Shape the market narrative for Active Intelligence, creating positioning that reshapes how the category thinks rather than messaging that simply describes features, and lead go-to-market strategy across the company.
  • Drive a continuous drumbeat of go-to-market moments — including major launches, smaller beats, always-on campaigns, and opportunistic one-off plays — each sized to the moment and built around a continuous release cycle.
  • Own adoption and retention outcomes end-to-end, measuring success by what customers do rather than by what you ship.
  • Build the systems and enablement that make the whole team faster, including the AI-native ways of working that raise the whole team’s velocity.
  • Partner with senior leaders in Product, Sales, and Marketing to advance the Product Marketing craft at ActiveCampaign, shaping how the function works in an AI-native, product-converged world.

The ideal candidate will bring:

  • A track record of leading a product marketing or go-to-market function — setting the strategy and the standard, and delivering results through the team you lead.
  • A builder’s mindset and a nontraditional path to Product Marketing — whether as a founder, an early operator, or a builder who wore the marketing hat because someone had to and turned out to be great at it — as much as through a linear Product Marketing career.
  • You’re a product leader who ran your product like an internal founder — owning not just what got built but how it landed in the market, reaching into positioning, narrative, and go-to-market because you refused to hand the outcome off.
  • A nose for the moment: the ability to look at a stream of releases and instinctively know which deserve a major market moment, which are a smaller beat, and which are a one-off play worth running now.
  • A hands-on approach to building: using AI daily, creating your own systems and artifacts, and preferring to make the thing rather than write the brief for it.
  • Experience reshaping how a market thinks about a product through a narrative you authored, not a deck you reviewed.
  • Resourcefulness to a fault: doing more with less, manufacturing leverage, and finding the path when the obvious one is blocked.
  • Experience building or reinventing something from the ground up — a function, a team, or a company — and finding energy in it.
  • A track record of moving adoption, retention, or revenue, with specifics.
  • Experience close to product, operating as a peer to product leadership.
