The Director, Social Strategy will lead the development of cross-platform social strategy across patient and HCP audiences, helping establish social as a strategic capability within Avalere Health. This role will be responsible for identifying platform opportunities, evaluating audience engagement trends, shaping innovative social recommendations, and partnering closely with internal teams, clients, and external partners to build integrated organic and paid social approaches.
This individual will serve as Avalere’s subject matter expert on social engagement, advising both internal stakeholders and clients on evolving platform behaviors, emerging content formats, influencer opportunities, and social-first campaign thinking. The role will also lead the recruitment, evaluation, and management of key opinion leaders (KOLs), digital opinion leaders (DOLs), patient ambassadors, and other relevant social voices to strengthen brand engagement strategies. The role requires a balance of strategic leadership, client-facing communication, hands-on planning, and cross-functional collaboration.
What You'll Do
- Lead cross-platform social strategy across patient and HCP audiences
- Serve as Avalere’s subject matter expert on social engagement, platform trends, and emerging opportunities
- Develop strategic recommendations for organic and paid social as part of integrated campaign planning
- Identify relevant social platforms, audience behaviors, content formats, and engagement trends to inform campaign direction
- Develop and lead influencer, KOL, DOL, and ambassador strategies aligned to brand and audience objectives
- Recruit, evaluate, and manage KOLs, DOLs, patient ambassadors, and creator/influencer partners for social engagement initiatives
- Partner with Account, Strategy, Media, Analytics, and external vendors to align social strategy with campaign objectives
- Present social recommendations, strategic POVs, and platform opportunities to internal stakeholders and clients
- Translate social insights and performance trends into actionable recommendations and future planning considerations
- Drive social-first thinking across campaign ideation, planning, optimization, and innovation
- Help establish scalable social processes, best practices, and strategic frameworks across the organization
- Mentor and guide junior social team members as the function expands
About You
- 8–10+ years of experience in social strategy, digital marketing, integrated media strategy, or social media planning
- Experience developing cross-platform social strategies for brands, ideally within healthcare, pharmaceutical, or other regulated industries
- Strong understanding of organic and paid social ecosystems, platform trends, content formats, and audience engagement behaviors
- Experience developing or managing influencer, ambassador, KOL, or DOL programs
- Experience advising clients and presenting strategic recommendations in client-facing settings
- Ability to translate social opportunities, performance insights, and audience behavior into clear strategic direction
- Experience working collaboratively across account, strategy, media, analytics, and vendor teams
- Familiarity with healthcare and pharmaceutical marketing dynamics is preferred Proven ability to balance strategic leadership with hands-on execution
