Here at Hometap, we’re collaborative, passionate, and always ready to roll up our sleeves to create solutions that help people get more out of homeownership — and out of life. Our first product, a home equity investment, gives homeowners the opportunity to quickly access the equity they’ve built in their home to pay for what’s most important to them, from handling debt to finally making much-needed renovations, without taking on debt.

We work hard, and have some fun along the way, too. You don’t have to take our word for it: The Boston Globe and Forbes have recognized us as a great place to work, and we’ve been honored for our commitment to innovation in the fintech space by Inc., HousingWire, and more!

In case you need any more convincing, we also provide competitive compensation, healthcare coverage, generous PTO, a meaningful equity package, and a strong culture with plenty of opportunities for team-building and camaraderie.

Interested in joining us on our mission to make homeownership less stressful and more accessible? We’d love to talk.

Who You Are:

Hometap is hiring a Director of Software Architecture to lead the foundational technology decisions that shape how our Technical Product Organization (TPO) builds and scales. You'll identify, prioritize, and execute architecture improvements, while growing and supporting the current architecture team. This role sits at the intersection of deep hands-on technical work, technical product management, and leadership. You'll partner closely with engineering management, product, design, and business stakeholders to deliver value to homeowners, investment partners, and the Hometap team. This position reports to the CIO.

What you’ll do:

  • Manage a team of architects and contribute directly to bringing organization-wide beneficial technologies to fruition
  • Lead the charge in identifying how AI, particularly generative AI, can be leveraged across the company, including code generation, technical design and architecture, refactoring legacy codebases, and test generation
  • Mentor architects from diverse backgrounds and technology environments so they can operate effectively at Hometap and incorporate architectural best practices in their work
  • Drive the establishment and evolution of our architecture methodology, including the education and upskilling of the technical team
  • Look ahead at the product roadmap to identify where architectural investment is needed
  • Partner with Product, Design, and Engineering Management to prioritize, resource, and execute software architecture work across TPO
  • Communicate regularly at all levels of the company about current architectural efforts, their benefits, and our future technology vision
  • Play a key role in technical brainstorming, decision-making, and engineering process improvements

What you'll bring:

  • 10+ years of software engineering experience with progressive technical growth, a substantial amount of time in a Software Architect position, and people management experience
  • Expert understanding of all things SDLC, including but not limited to: cloud architectures, AWS, pragmatic application of AI/ML tooling with appropriate risk controls, MVC systems, DevOps, scaling integrations, and service observability/monitoring
  • Ability to build a vision for the future application of technology
  • Skill in collaborating with technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Ability to communicate and advocate for high-level software initiatives, keeping technology goals on-point and on-track
  • Bonus points for familiarity with Salesforce integrations, Django/Python, and React

The salary range for this role is $210,000 - $225,000, depending on your experience, skills, location, and other factors. You’ll also be bonus-eligible, and receive meaningful equity, so you can share in our growth and success. We offer generous medical, dental, and vision coverage, a work-from-home stipend, parental leave, and plenty of paid time off to recharge.

Hometap is on a mission to make homeownership less stressful and more accessible. Our home equity investment product provides homeowners with a fast, simple, and straightforward way to access the equity in their home without taking out a loan or having to sell. By investing alongside homeowners, Hometap offers debt-free cash in exchange for a share of their home’s future value — all without any monthly payments over the life of the investment. Through a combination of financial innovation and best-in-class customer service, Hometap enables people to get more from homeownership so they can get more from life.

Hometap believes that our differences are what bring us together, and one of our biggest priorities is creating a diverse workplace that welcomes and values each team member’s unique perspective, background, and ideas.
