Apptronik is a human-centered robotics company developing AI-powered robots to support humanity in every facet of life. Our flagship humanoid robot, Apollo, is built to collaborate thoughtfully with people, starting with critical industries such as manufacturing and logistics, with future applications in healthcare, the home, and beyond.
We operate at the cutting edge of Applied AI, applying our expertise across the full robotics stack to solve some of society's most important problems. You will join a team dedicated to bringing Apollo to market at scale, tackling the complex challenges like safety, commercialization, and mass production to change the world for the better.

The Document Control Specialist owns the day-to-day execution of engineering change and controlled product records through Teamcenter. Every design change on Apptronik's robot programs must be routed to the correct reviewers, complete, correctly attributed, formally dispositioned, and released before it becomes the authoritative configuration for procurement or build. Where material must be purchased or hardware built ahead of full release, the activity must be controlled through an approved deviation, waiver, risk-buy authorization, or other defined exception process.

Responsibilities include processing engineering change requests and engineering change orders, screening submissions for completeness, coordinating and documenting the change review board, driving approvals and implementation actions to closure, and enforcing the data standards that make a released record trustworthy. This is a hands-on execution and governance role that partners daily with engineering, manufacturing, quality, and supply chain.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES or KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Process engineering changes end to end in Teamcenter, including intake, completeness screening, routing, review coordination, disposition capture, release, implementation tracking, and closure.
  • Perform first-pass review on submitted changes covering required fields, attached documentation, affected items, BOM impact, and revision-level correctness, and return incomplete packages with clear, specific feedback.
  • Coordinate and document the change review board, including package preparation, agenda, decisions, action items, and follow-up to closure.
  • Coordinate change effectivity and disposition of affected inventory, work-in-process, open purchase orders, supplier material, and completed hardware, including use-as-is, rework, scrap, and return-to-vendor decisions as directed by the appropriate functional owners.
  • Track change cycle time and aging, first-pass completeness, backlog, and implementation status, and escalate stalled changes.
  • Maintain document and record control, including numbering, revision history, and controlled release of drawings, specifications, work instructions, and supplier data packages.
  • Ensure obsolete and superseded documents are appropriately withdrawn from use and that manufacturing teams and suppliers are working to the applicable released revision.
  • Enforce data hygiene in Teamcenter across attribute completeness, naming conventions, and classification, and remediate records that fall short of standard.
  • Administer routine workflow governance within defined policy, including reviewer assignments, group membership, and workflow templates in use.
  • Manage deviation and waiver records, including expiration tracking and closure.
  • Produce recurring reports for supply chain and program teams covering open change status, revision alignment between released design and purchased material, and parts pending release to procurement.
  • Support reconciliation of as-designed, as-released, as-procured, and as-built configurations and escalate discrepancies for disposition.
  • Support controlled data distribution to suppliers and internal manufacturing.
  • Support the Configuration Manager on procedure updates, user training, and migration data validation.
  • Support PLM-to-ERP/MRP release alignment to ensure released product data is accurately reflected in downstream procurement, inventory, and manufacturing systems.

SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS

Required

  • Hands-on experience processing engineering changes in a PLM system such as Teamcenter, Arena, Windchill, or Agile.
  • Solid understanding of BOMs, part numbers, and revision levels, and their downstream impact on procurement and build.
  • Understanding of the relationship between PLM, ERP/MRP, procurement, and manufacturing execution.
  • Ability to read an engineering drawing and identify what a change affects.
  • Ability to interpret BOM structures, engineering drawings, specifications, and revision changes and identify affected downstream records and configurations.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and the persistence to follow up with engineering on missing information.
  • Clear written communication and comfort running a recurring cross-functional meeting.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage a queue of concurrent items against cycle-time targets.

Preferred

  • Direct Teamcenter experience, particularly change management and workflow.
  • Experience in a high-change-velocity new product introduction environment.
  • Electromechanical product background including actuators, harnesses, PCBAs, and machined parts.
  • Exposure to ISO 9001, AS9100, or similar controlled-document requirements.
  • Experience supporting PLM-to-ERP/MRP product release processes.
  • Experience with configuration status accounting, product-structure audits, or as-built configuration reconciliation.
  • Comfort building reports or lightweight automation to streamline manual review effort.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Associate or Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in Engineering Technology, Business, Supply Chain, or related field
  • At least 3 years of experience in document control, change management, or PLM/configuration support in a hardware manufacturing environment or new product introduction

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times
  • Vision to read printed materials, engineering drawings, and a computer screen
  • Hearing and speech to communicate
  • Occasional time on the production floor, including use of required personal protective equipment
