We are currently searching for an experienced Drainage Project Engineer to support our Southwest Region located in Texas


To be considered for this position, applicants must have, at minimum, 4 years of progressive drainage/water resources and TxDOT experience.

 

What you’ll be doing:

  • Collecting and analyzing data for inclusion in Project Plans and reports
  • Using computer engineering software to design stormwater management and storm drain systems, as well as soil erosion and sediment control systems
  • Analyzing and designing hydrologic and hydraulic models for Transportation Improvement projects
  • Permitting with different Regulatory and Water Management agencies
  • Assisting and preparing project plans using OpenRoads Designer
  • Contributing to the preparation and/or modification of considerable scope and complexity engineering reports and calculations for a wide variety of projects
  • Preparing and assisting in the preparation of project construction details, quantities, cost estimates and project specifications
  • Reviewing project quantity estimates, details, and check calculations and drawings for compliance to project requirements
  • Preparing and assisting with the preparation of project schedules
  • Collaborating across multiple disciplines, subconsultants, and other professionals to successfully deliver quality projects within budget and schedule
  • Overseeing project design activities, supervising production efforts, and mentoring junior level support staff and other designers
  • Performing other professional, management, marketing and networking duties as assigned
  • Assist with roadway project development and other misc. civil engineering tasks for project design and delivery

What you need to have:

  • Bachelor’s of Science in Civil Engineering
  • Valid Professional Engineering Licensure preferred or the ability to acquire it within 6 months
  • 4 - 6 years of relative/progressive drainage/water resources and TxDOT experience
  • Experience with OpenRoads Designer, Storm CAD, ICPR, HEC-RAS, GIS and/or SUDA software
  • Previous TxDOT Drainage design experience and strong knowledge of TxDOT standards and procedures
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening to ensure a safe and productive work environment. Volkert adheres to federal guidelines, which may include testing for substances such as marijuana. Please note that federal regulations may differ from state-specific guidelines
  • Valid driver’s license and a satisfactory motor vehicle report (MVR)

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Master's in Water Resources
