Community involvement has a crucial role in honoring our heroes. It allows us to collectively express our appreciation and uphold the values our heroes embodied. Moreover, it enables families to pass down the legacy of their loved ones, instilling in younger generations the importance of patriotism, integrity, and selflessness.
 
Numerous ways exist to honor our heroes, their families, and their sacrifices. Through volunteering, donating, or simply expressing our gratitude, we can individually contribute to preserving their memory and upholding the ideals they fought for. These acts of remembrance serve as a reminder of the unwavering commitment and bravery of those who have given so much to safeguard our freedoms and protect our communities. The Lucky Foundation is seeking an education expert to join our Advisory Board as The Chief of Education and Scholarship Programs. The Chief of Education and Scholarship Programs will be part of the Leadership Committee of the Advisory Board of Directors, a position which comes with more responsibilities than joining as a member. The Chief of Education and Scholarship Programs position will be responsible for providing direction, guidance, and leadership.
 
Job Summary
 

The key elements of the scholarship program are as follows:
Tuition Support
By virtue of scoring on a merit-based exam and academic performance, students are awarded Lucky’s Legacy Scholarships – to be used towards the tuition at an accredited school of their choice. 
Position Overview
The Chief of Education and Scholarship Programs, reporting to the Board Vice Chairperson, will coordinate and implement The Lucky Foundation – “Lucky’s Legacy,” scholarship program and bring innovation, best practices, and evidence-based ideas to continue program excellence, build upon the strong program foundation, and initiate new enhanced programming. Reporting to the Vice Board Chairperson for Grantmaking, the Program Director portion of the role will advance strategies that promote positive trends for PreK–12 schools throughout the United States, including enrollment growth; improved academic quality; strong leadership; better financial health and business practices; and solid student outcomes.
 
 
Responsibilities


Scholarship Program Responsibilities
●       Manage and execute the “Lucky’s Legacy,” scholarship programs to include but not limited to managing scholarship counselor teams, delivering programs, executing scholarship payments, maintaining scholarship database, producing reports, overseeing events related to the scholarship program working with the Chief Philanthropy and Engagement Officer, handling administrative tasks reporting to the Chief Administration Officer, coordinating communication with the Chief Marketing Officer, and implementing enhancements.
●       Innovate and grow the program with the focus of providing scholarship students high quality support through their secondary education. Develop regional student leaders of tomorrow through the scholarship program. Offer new ideas and fresh perspectives.
●       Lead with enthusiasm and excited engagement with internal and external parties including students, parents, school leaders, universities, and other education partners. Be a present and visible partner with school leaders and build working relationships with schools regularly. Promote the value of the scholarship brand and sense of community.
●       Implement the recommendations of The Lucky Foundation’s yearly scholarship evaluation.
●       Supervise the work and professional development of the program’s scholarship counselors. Advise scholarship recipients in academic matters to support counselor caseload if needed.
●       Maintain responsibility for all aspects of risk and liability considerations, developing a program that serves the best interests of students, families, schools, and The Lucky Foundation.
●       Create and deliver annual events for scholarship students, families, and school communities.
●       Develop program outcomes and annual metrics to measure program effectiveness. Maintain accurate and up to date student databases and study and cyclically report on historic trends, opportunities, and performance. Implement a student information system for counselors.
●       Actively review student performance, support, and student, parent, and school satisfaction.
●       Develop a mastery of scholarship program delivery and strive for high programmatic scholarship program delivery to create a national model.
Education Responsibilities
●       Guided by The Lucky Foundation’s new strategic plan, identify and pursue grantmaking initiatives to invigorate education on a national level.
●       Develop and maintain education databases and materials to inform grantmaking strategy.
●       Lean in, contribute, and engage on the wider spectrum of education portfolio work including grantmaking review when needed.
●       Lead initiatives, research, and data collection as assigned.
●       All other duties and responsibilities as needed.
