Job Description

POSITION PURPOSE

The EHS Coordinator supports the Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) department in administering the Company's ammonia compliance and EHS programs, with primary responsibility for documentation management, recordkeeping, and program coordination across plant locations. This role serves as a key administrative resource, ensuring that compliance records, incident documentation, and program materials are accurately maintained, organized, and accessible to support regulatory and operational requirements.

Actively utilizes lean tools (VSM, Kaizen, A3, etc.) to inform and assess business opportunities to drive continuous improvement. Lead and participate in Kaizen and value stream mapping activities.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Maintain and administer the centralized documentation system for ammonia compliance and EHS programs, ensuring records are properly organized, version-controlled, and readily retrievable. Provide technical and administrative support for ammonia compliance and EHS program management, including the preparation, review, and distribution of program documentation. Assist in the implementation, monitoring, and tracking of ammonia compliance and EHS programs at the plant level, ensuring documentation reflects current program status and regulatory requirements. Prepare agendas, meeting minutes, and supporting materials for location-specific ammonia compliance and EHS team meetings and maintain associated records. Support the EHS department in responding to regulatory agency inspections by compiling, organizing, and producing requested documentation in a timely and accurate manner. Manage incident documentation and data recordkeeping in support of the EHS department, ensuring completeness, accuracy, and compliance with retention requirements. Coordinate with contractors and third-party service providers to ensure alignment with ammonia compliance and EHS program requirements, including the collection and maintenance of contractor compliance records. Support organizational change management by administering new-manager training records and coordinating EHS orientation materials for incoming personnel. Make and assume other duties and responsibilities required or assigned by management. Adhering to the Code of Business Ethics is essential. Internal:         Prepare reports and recommendations for upper levels of corporate management, with regular summaries to the                         Sr. Director, EHS, regarding regulatory compliance issues

External:        Coordinate EHS activities with safety and health contractors, and various federal and state regulatory agencies.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field, or equivalent professional experience in regulatory compliance, EHS administration, or documentation management.
  • Demonstrated experience managing technical or regulatory documentation, preferably in an industrial, manufacturing, or process-safety environment.
  • Working knowledge of ammonia compliance, Process Safety Management (PSM), and general EHS regulatory frameworks is preferred.
  • Experience working in a cross-functional environment and building strong cross-functional partnerships is required.

SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Strong organizational skills with proven attention to detail, accuracy, and recordkeeping discipline.
  • Proficiency with document management systems and standard office productivity software, including Microsoft Office.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to coordinate across plant personnel, contractors, and regulatory representatives.
  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion and professionalism.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY

The EHS Coordinator does not directly supervise any employees but indirectly supervises all personnel at the Company's locations regarding employee health and safety programs, policies, plans, and safety practices.

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to deal effectively with people in various support roles within the Company.
  • Must be an effective communicator.
  • Ability to represent the Company with outside agencies in response to crisis situations with the media, governmental agencies, and the general public.
  • Ability to travel up to 10% - 20% of the time throughout the Company service region.
  • Physically able to climb stairs and ladders to complete plant inspection. Able to tolerate extremes in temperature. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, talk, or hear. The employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel, and to reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
