THE ROLE

Alpine Investors is seeking a Sourcing Associate to join its direct deal originations team. This dynamic position will focus across Alpine’s investments in software and services and will consist of (i) researching and identifying markets to invest in, (ii) compiling lists of prospective companies and their executives, (iii) reaching out directly to CEOs/Owners with a well-crafted message to gauge their interest in selling, and (iv) evaluating the fundamentals and growth opportunities of potential investments. Given the exposure in this role, associates will develop their own investing judgment and have opportunities to shape our investment criteria as they build expertise in markets. Target start date for this role is as soon as possible.

The direct sourcing team within Alpine Operations Group (known as “Elevation”) provides a critical service to Alpine and its portfolio companies. The Elevation team creates more optionality and opportunities for investments across the Alpine portfolio and has allowed Alpine to increase the volume of closed deals since the team was launched in 2021.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Utilize databases and internet research to compile lists of prospective acquisition targets
  • Create and execute outbound outreach strategies that result in engaging business owners/CEOs in a discussion to sell. Methods may include cold calls, emails, LinkedIn outreach, in-person visits and more.
  • Conduct introductory conversations with owners/CEOs of prospective businesses and build rapport
  • Qualify deal opportunities you generate against our investment criteria
  • Present market research and new investment opportunities to internal stakeholders
  • Complete ad hoc projects which may focus on sourcing workflows, pipeline analysis, or Alpine’s investing strategy
  • Participate in a variety of firm-wide activities and team-bonding events

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree – interest in business, entrepreneurship, finance, or sales
  • 2+ years of experience in direct deal sourcing or business development with a proven track record of success
  • Strong communication skills and professionalism
  • Curious mindset, desire to learn, and ability to implement feedback
  • Self-starter that thrives in ambiguous environments
  • Relationship-driven
