In Controls & Avionics Solutions, you will have the opportunity to help define and develop the next generation of avionics - whether it is fly-by-wire flight controls, full authority digital engine controls, or power management.

In this Embedded Software Engineer opportunity, you will be part of an Integrated Product Team (IPT) environment supporting a dynamic cross-functional team that supports safety critical systems and make impacts in the following ways;
  • Design, develop, and validate software for safety-critical avionics systems, adhering to DO-178C and other industry standards. Ensure compliance with system specifications and rigorous safety and reliability requirements throughout the software development lifecycle.
  • Collaborate with Systems and Hardware Engineers to translate business needs and customer requirements into technical solutions, including performing SW/HW integration testing, verification, and debug.
  • Implement best practices for software development, including version control, coding standards, automated testing, and integration.
  • May also be involved in reverse engineering existing code bases to address problem reports, implement enhancements and improve overall structure for maintainability.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills
  • BS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or Similar.
  • 2+ years of experience in avionics or electronic controls embedded development in a safety or mission critical environment (i.e. aerospace, military. energy, nuclear, automotive, medical devices).
  • Full software lifecycle working experience from requirements development through verification.
  • Experience integrating on real-time, safety-critical electronic systems that include hardware, software and programmable logic devices.
  • Proficient in C and Python programming, with practical experience in code development and analysis. Experienced in performing code reviews, identifying issues, and ensuring adherence to coding standards.
  • Proficiency with version control systems and configuration management tools, including Git, to effectively manage and track changes to software and system configurations.
  • Technical writing skills: capable of creating required engineering documentation.

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
  • Master's Degree in a relevant field (e.g., Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering) with 5 or more years of experience in safety-critical avionics embedded software development and testing, with a strong understanding of safety processes and standards such as ARP4754, DO-178B/C, DO-254, ISO-26262, or equivalent safety process requirements.
  • Familiarity with MATLAB/Simulink modeling and auto code generation.
  • Experience developing device drivers/board support packages.
  • Experienced with data transfer protocols, including ARINC 429, RS-232, and MIL-STD-1553, with a strong understanding of their applications, advantages, and limitations in avionics and embedded systems.
  • Experience with cybersecurity technologies, such as secure boot, encryption, and hardware-based security solutions.
  • Experience with Multi-core and ARM processing hardware is a plus.
  • Motivated self-starter with good problem solving skills, judgment, and analytical capability, with good planning and organizational skills.

Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $79365 - $134921
Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
