Engagement ManagerRole Summary

Couchbase is looking for an Engagement Manager to partner with our largest, most complex enterprise customers. In this high-impact, senior individual contributor role, you will act as a trusted advisor to C-suite executives and technical leaders, ensuring they achieve maximum business value, rapid time-to-value, and long-term ROI from their Couchbase investment.

Operating with high autonomy, you will orchestrate cross-functional internal teams (Product, Services, Support, and Sales) to de-risk complex deployments, drive adoption, and secure long-term retention and expansion.

Key Responsibilities
  • Strategic Account Leadership: Own the delivery strategy and execution roadmap for a portfolio of Couchbase’s most critical enterprise accounts.

  • Value Realization: Define, track, and deliver clear success metrics, statements of work, and business outcomes to ensure rapid adoption and high ROI.

  • Cross-Functional Orchestration: Lead large-scale, multi-phase customer journeys (migrations, cloud transformations, expansions) by aligning Professional Services, Solutions Engineering, Support, and Partners.

  • Executive Advisory: Establish deep relationships with C-level and senior technical stakeholders; lead Executive Business Reviews (EBRs) and strategic planning sessions.

  • Commercial Growth & Risk Mitigation: Partner with Account Executives and CSMs to identify expansion signals, protect renewals, and proactively resolve complex escalations.

  • Product Voice: Translate enterprise customer insights into actionable feedback for our Product Management and Go-To-Market teams.

Experience & Profile

What You Bring (Required):

  • Enterprise Expertise: Extensive experience in SaaS customer success, management consulting, or strategic engagement management handling multi-stakeholder, 7-figure enterprise accounts.

  • Commercial Acumen: A proven understanding of ARR, SaaS renewal dynamics, and expansion strategies.

  • Leadership & Autonomy: Exceptional structured thinking, problem-solving skills, and the ability to influence senior executives and navigate ambiguity without authority.

Nice to Have:

  • Domain knowledge in data platforms, NoSQL databases, or cloud infrastructure.

  • A foundational background in technical program delivery or IT consulting.

What This Role Is—and Isn't

Note to Candidates: This is a high-level, customer-facing leadership role centered on business outcomes and strategic orchestration. It is not a traditional project manager, support, operations, or junior CSM role.
