Design, develop, and test electrical equipment and systems. Collaborate with teams, ensure customer specifications, and support production for new product releases.
As an Electrical Engineer you will contribute to the design, development, and testing of electrical equipment, components, or systems. You will apply mathematical and engineering principles and methods to electrical system designs. You will work directly with more senior engineers to develop new designs and solutions.
Responsibilities:
- Works with internal teams and suppliers
- Works with customers and vendors to address technical and obsolescence issues.
- Provides daily support for technical issues.
- Reviews customer specifications to determine project feasibility.
- Receives and reviews request for quote package, bill of materials (BOM), and drawings or sample products from sales staff or customer.
- Identifies shortcomings in RFQ package and works with sales staff or customer to complete package needs.
- Prepares specifications to conform to customer part number scheme or create accurate part numbers for designed product using company’s part numbering scheme.
- Reviews drawings and visualizes steps required to manufacture product.
- Reviews, revises, and controls system information based on revision changes and feedback from customer.
- Produces mechanical, electro-mechanical and electronic designs created in 2-D, mechanical drawings, and in 3-D solid models.
- Performs technical duties on assigned projects to transition prototype assemblies to volume manufacturing.
- Manages and prioritizes daily work builds issued by production.
- Supports release of new product to volume manufacturing.
- Reviews and assembles of first article builds.
- Identifies production needs for tooling and equipment for current build.
- Provides technical support for non-conformance or rejections designs or processes initiated from planning and production.
- Works with team to assist in completing supplier surveys and answer customer audit findings.
- Collaborates with staff to identify and meet customer delivery and quality needs.
- Participates in continuous improvement projects such as redesign of customer product and internal process improvement to increase efficiency and quality.
- Participates in on-going training on production processes, procedures, and competencies.
- Ensures housekeeping is done on a daily and nightly basis.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical, electronic engineering or related required.
- 1 year of manufacturing or design engineering with project management skills and technical application required, 3 years preferred.
- Technical background and a working knowledge of electronic components and equipment.
- Advanced computer knowledge.
- AutoCAD; 2D & 3D programs similar to “Inventor”.
- Ability to read and understand customer supplied drawings in various formats – (CAD style) in order to identify parts, construction, etc.
- Microsoft Office products focusing in Word, Excel and Access.
- Working knowledge of mainframe computer such as IBM AS400.
