Security Automation Engineer

HomeAway is looking for a talented and highly motivated Security Automation Engineer to join the Global IT Security Team. This position will be responsible for building and maintaining security automation infrastructure and ensuring policies are enforced across HomeAway IT environments. This hands-on position is expected to interface with various aspects of the company as well as IT security engineers and analysts to drive operational efficiencies, identify remediation opportunities, and develop processes for exception-based auditing. The position requires a proven track record of planning, implementation, maintenance, monitoring and operationalizing of security technologies.



Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain security platform with focus on automation and operationalization.

  • Establish security scorecards and perform health monitoring for IT systems based on policy requirements.

  • Integrate with various IT departments to obtain dependencies and data feeds to provide automation of controls and real-time exception-based auditing.

  • Partner with IT engineers and analysts to provide guidance in security policy enforcement and remediation efforts.

  • Effectively build and manage trusted partnerships with internal collaborators through knowledge, consistency, and quality of work.

Required Skills

  • BS degree and 2+ years of experience with scripting and automation techniques, including Ruby, Python, PowerShell or other scripting language.

  • Experience with API development and usage.

  • Experience with Splunk.

  • Experience with the design, development, and testing of systems and devices

  • Experience with hardening Windows servers, Linux servers, and data stores such as SQL, NoSQL, and big data technologies

  • Experience with cloud environments such as AWS, GCP, and Azure.

  • Experience with troubleshooting issues, implementing enhancements to improve reliability and performance, and with security auditing tools

  • Creative and resourceful problem-solving approach to projects.

  • Highly proficient in verbal and written communication

  • Strong analytical capabilities and willingness to self-learn new technologies and tools.

  • Must effectively deal with rapid technological and business changes while maintaining enthusiasm, displaying sound judgment, and being a solutions provider

  • Highly motivated self-starter

  • Must have the ability to work independently
