  • People Leadership & Mentorship: Own performance management, coaching, and career growth for a diverse team of engineers, ensuring high expectations for execution and professional growth are met.
  • Hands-on Contribution: Act as an active member of your team, performing development or technical tasks, reviewing code, and contributing directly to the ecosystem.
  • AI & Automation Forward: Strong familiarity with or passion for agentic coding practices. You actively utilize and advocate for AI-assisted development tools to accelerate prototyping, code generation, and team productivity.
  • Sprint & Process Execution: Build and lead your team to execute each sprint effectively, streamlining processes to ensure the right prioritization, urgency, and delivery.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with the SVP of Engineering, Product Management, and peer engineering leaders to align your team’s milestones with company goals.
  • Team Scaling: Participate actively in the hiring process as we continue to attract, interview, and retain world-class talent.
  • Operational Excellence: Establish and track KPIs for your team to measure performance, code quality, and execution.
  • Security & Reliability: Ensure security processes, protocols, and technical best practices are kept up to date and on track within your team's domain.
Our ideal candidate will have the following:
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree (or higher) from an accredited college or university in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • Leadership Experience: 3+ years of experience in direct people and team management, with a proven track record of mentoring junior developers and managing stakeholders.
  • Technical Background: 5+ years of hands-on experience in either backend software development (Ruby on Rails preferred) or cloud systems/infrastructure engineering.
  • Domain Expertise: Extensive experience in at least one of the following areas:
    • Developing, deploying, and integrating large-scale, high-traffic web applications.
    • Hardening application security, managing infrastructure-as-code, and working with AWS services.
  • Engineering Best Practices: Deep familiarity with design patterns, code reviews, unit testing, and agile or lean software development frameworks.
  • Tools: Proficiency with version control using Git.
  • Mindset: Growth-oriented, adaptive, and enthusiastic about keeping up with software industry trends, security innovations, and modern engineering standards.
