This individual should have experience working directly with equipment or equipment estimating. They should have deep industry knowledge and connections. This person will have an idea of what annual usage, economic life or maintenance hours should be or ways to find it. They will have a sense of the value of larger equipment where listings aren’t always readily available. They will keep up with industry trends and new equipment categories. With this knowledge and insight, they will guide the cost recovery product. Playing a critical role in reviewing and improving cost factors, identifying gaps, researching new equipment types and ensuring our methodology remains trusted, accurate and aligned with industry realities. They will work with the existing data analytics team to make these updates quarterly.
What You Will Do
Product Expertise & Methodology
Assist in the quarterly equipment cost recovery update process, ensuring changes are well researched, justifiable, and well documented.
Analyze existing cost factors (usage, economic life, ownership costs, repair & maintenance hours, etc.) and recommend enhancements.
Identify gaps in current equipment coverage and recommend new categories, values, and cost drivers.
Contribute to long-term product evolution by proposing enhancements based on real-world usage, industry input, and data insights.
Industry Research & Insight
Conduct ongoing research across manufacturers, dealers, associations, and market sources to stay informed of equipment trends, pricing changes, and emerging categories. Get familiar with the current cost estimation processes.
Build a repeatable research plan for identifying and evaluating new equipment types.
Collaboration & Client Engagement
Work closely with the Data Analytics and Data Quality teams to ensure consistency, accuracy, and methodological integrity.
Participate in client conversations to gather feedback, explain updates, and strengthen market confidence in our product.
Partner with internal subject matter experts to validate assumptions and ensure data alignment across the organization.
What you need:
Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines, where necessary.
Proficient with Excel and other Miscrosoft 365 tools.
Growth-oriented, with a continual drive to learn and stay ahead of industry trends.
3-7 years of industry experience, managing equipment, estimating internal rates or bidding construction projects.
Strong familiarity with heavy equipment such as cranes, excavators, vacuum excavators, and other large construction assets
Strong understanding of industry cost drivers, including depreciation, maintenance cycles, usage patterns, and life expectancy of heavy equipment.
Strong communication skills and comfort interacting with clients and internal stakeholders.
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience/certification.
