You bring strong financial analysis skills, close attention to detail, sound judgment, and the ability to collaborate across teams to keep deals moving efficiently. You’re naturally curious and open to using AI tools to improve research, analysis, workflow efficiency, and problem-solving, while still applying independent judgment, maintaining accuracy, and following company policies.

In this role, you’ll identify, gather, and analyze the information needed to assess credit risk and determine sources of repayment. You’ll make thoughtful underwriting decisions, including declining applications when necessary, while ensuring decisions align with Greenbox Capital’s credit policies and risk philosophy. Your work will help us move quickly without compromising the quality and sound judgment behind each decision.

How You’ll Be Measured

Credit Analysis & Risk Assessment – 50%

  • Conduct detailed financial analysis of merchant applications, including bank statements, financial statements, tax returns, and supporting business documentation.
  • Evaluate merchant credibility and repayment ability using cash flow analysis, ratio analysis, trend review, and verification of submitted information.
  • Identify risk factors within each deal, detect red flags, and resolve inconsistencies using internal tools and documentation.
  • Research business reputation through public reporting sources to assess reputational and operational risk.
  • Make approval or decline recommendations in alignment with company risk tolerance and policies.

Application Processing & Compliance – 20%

  • Ensure underwriting decisions comply with internal credit policies, procedures, and Greenbox Capital’s risk philosophy.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and complete files to support audit and compliance standards.
  • Meet established service-level agreements (SLAs) and turn-time commitments to support business velocity.

Quality Assurance & Final Review – 15%

  • Conduct final underwriting reviews of files completed by peers prior to decisioning.
  • Verify compliance with underwriting guidelines, documentation standards, and approval authority requirements.
  • Ensure consistency of risk assessment and decision quality across the underwriting team.
  • Escalate material concerns, inconsistencies, or high-risk findings to leadership when appropriate.

Cross-Functional Communication & Deal Support – 15%

  • Communicate clearly and professionally with ISOs, Brokers Support, and merchants via written and verbal channels.
  • Partner with Sales, Broker Support, and Risk teams to clarify documentation, verify information, and move deals efficiently through the pipeline.
  • Escalate complex or high-risk cases appropriately to leadership.

What You’ve Done Before:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business, or related field required.
  • 1–3+ years of experience in underwriting, financial analysis, credit risk, or related financial services field preferred.
  • Proven ability to analyze financial statements and assess repayment risk.
  • Experience reviewing bank statements and business financial documentation required.

Tools and Expertise You’ll Bring:

  • Strong understanding of cash flow analysis, credit risk assessment, and underwriting fundamentals.
  • Ability to detect patterns, inconsistencies, and potential manipulation in financial documentation.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial analysis tools.
  • Strong analytical thinking and sound decision-making skills with minimal supervision.
  • Understanding seasonality, industry trends, and small business financial behavior preferred.
  • Comfortable exploring and leveraging AI tools to improve efficiency, research, documentation, and problem-solving within the underwriting process.
  • Demonstrates curiosity and initiative in identifying opportunities where AI or automation may support faster, more accurate, or more consistent workflows.
  • Ability to use AI-supported insights responsibly while applying independent judgment, validating information, and following company policies and risk standards.
