Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Federal Account Executive to drive our cybersecurity solutions sales within the federal government sector. This role combines deep technical knowledge of cybersecurity with proven sales expertise to help federal agencies strengthen their security posture. The ideal candidate will possess both the technical acumen to understand complex cybersecurity challenges and the relationship-building skills necessary to navigate the federal procurement process.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute strategic sales plans to achieve revenue targets within assigned federal agencies and departments
  • Build and maintain relationships with key decision-makers across federal civilian and defense agencies
  • Collaborate with technical teams to create compelling solutions that address agency-specific cybersecurity challenges
  • Navigate complex federal procurement processes, including FAR/DFAR requirements
  • Partner with system integrators and channel partners to expand market reach
  • Create detailed proposals and responses to RFIs, RFPs, and RFQs
  • Conduct technical presentations and product demonstrations to technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Monitor and analyze federal cybersecurity initiatives, compliance requirements, and spending trends
  • Maintain accurate sales forecasts and pipeline data in CRM system
  • Provide market intelligence and competitive analysis to inform product strategy
Expectations
  • Meet or exceed quarterly and annual sales targets
  • Maintain a healthy pipeline of qualified opportunities
  • Achieve specified levels of new business acquisition and account expansion
  • Develop account plans for key federal agencies
  • Travel to client sites and industry events (20%-30%)
  • Stay current with federal cybersecurity requirements and initiatives
  • Provide regular status updates and accurate forecasting
  • Participate in team meetings and sales strategy sessions
Required Experience and Skills
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or related field
  • 7+ years of experience selling software/technology solutions to federal government agencies
  • Proven track record of achieving sales targets in federal sector ($3M+ annual quota)
  • Deep understanding of federal cybersecurity requirements (FISMA, FedRAMP, NIST, CMMC)
  • Experience with federal procurement processes and contract vehicles (GSA, SEWP, CIO-SP3)
  • Active security clearance or ability to obtain one
  • Strong technical aptitude with the ability to understand and articulate complex cybersecurity concepts
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills
  • Experience with federal sales cycles and budgeting processes
  • Proven ability to build and maintain relationships with senior government officials
  • Knowledge of the federal technology landscape and key system integrators
  • Familiarity with GovCon CRM systems and sales tools
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Relevant certifications (CISSP, Security+, CAP, PMP)
  • Experience with federal DoD, IC and Civilian sales
  • Prior military or government service
  • Experience with cloud security solutions
  • Knowledge of zero trust architecture and implementation
