Have you noticed that when you go to the doctor, often no one there can tell you what it will cost? If you think that’s as problematic as we do, join us in our mission to fix it.

We are seeking a dynamic and versatile Finance & Business Operations Manager to join our team remotely!

Position Overview: Reporting to the Senior Director of Finance & Accounting, this role serves as a key connector across finance, people, and business operations. You’ll play a central role in driving operational excellence, enhancing reporting and analysis, and supporting high-impact strategic initiatives that shape the company’s growth trajectory. This is a first-time position — ideal for someone who thrives in fast-moving, unstructured environments and takes pride in creating structure from ambiguity. You’ll work closely with executive leadership and gain visibility into key financial and strategic decisions, with the opportunity to directly contribute to board- and leadership-level initiatives and communications that inform stakeholders of our company’s direction.

Key Responsibilities:

Finance & Accounting Operations

  • Lead the month-end close process, prepare and analyze monthly and quarterly financial reports, and maintain short-term forecasts and ad hoc analyses.
  • Partner with finance leadership to ensure the accuracy and timeliness of financial data, support audits and tax preparation, and proactively manage state and local compliance.
  • Build and contribute to executive and board-level presentation materials, translating complex financial data into clear, concise insights for senior audiences.
  • Drive improvements to financial systems, tools, and workflows to enhance scalability.
  • Partner cross-functionally with Sales and Marketing leadership to align financial and operational goals, enhance processes, and enable data-driven decision-making.

People Operations & Culture

  • Collaborate on company-wide initiatives such as recruiting, onboarding, and professional development programs.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of policies, processes, and systems that strengthen team operations.
  • Partner with managers to address employee inquiries and coordinate key events and engagement activities

Business Operations

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and senior leaders to identify operational bottlenecks and implement effective solutions.
  • Manage and refine day-to-day workflows that ensure smooth coordination across departments.
  • Develop operational processes and documentation that support scalable company growth.
  • Partner with the executive leadership team to prepare and organize materials for strategic and board-level discussions, ensuring clear communication and timely execution.
  • Execute cross-functional projects with measurable business impact.
  • Spearhead the adoption go AI initiatives across company workflows.

Skills and Knowledge:

  • Strong sense of ownership, accountability, and pride in delivering high-quality work.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate data into insights and decisions.
  • Working knowledge of US GAAP (including ASC 606), financial statement preparation, and reporting.
    • Strongly desired: CPA or CPA-eligible background.
  • Advanced Excel/Google Sheets proficiency; experience with ERP and FP&A products, or HRIS systems is a plus.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, including comfort working with executive leadership and board-level stakeholders.
  • Experience preparing or contributing to executive or board-level presentation decks, with strong attention to clarity, accuracy, and visual storytelling.
  • Highly organized with the ability to balance competing priorities and deliver accurate work on time.
  • Exceptional self-starter who thrives in environments without established playbooks; able to take broad objectives, create structure, and deliver high-quality outcomes independently.
  • Demonstrated ability to navigate ambiguity, define next steps with limited direction, and drive projects to completion.
  • Strong sense of ownership, accountability, and pride in delivering work that meets a high standard of accuracy and professionalism.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • +3 years of experience in finance, public accounting, consulting, or business operations, roles with exposure to financial reporting or analysis.
  • Bonus points for exposure to or working with high-growth or startup organizations.

You’ll succeed in this role if you are:

  • A proactive self-starter who enjoys creating structure from ambiguity.
  • A clear communicator who thrives in a remote, fast-moving environment.
  • A detail-oriented doer with strategic awareness.
  • Curious, adaptable, and motivated by building something new.
  • A self-motivated professional who excels with limited oversight, values craftsmanship in their work, and maintains a strong focus on accuracy and detail.

Role Progression: As our Finance & Business Operations Manager, you’ll gain exposure to multiple functions and leadership at the highest levels of the organization. Over time, you’ll have the opportunity to grow into a specialized finance, strategy, or operations leadership role — or continue to expand your impact as a cross-functional business operator.

Why MD Clarity:

  • Our team is experiencing high growth and is at the forefront of innovation while loving a little bit of ambiguity along the way!
  • We are remote-first, with co-working opportunities as well as a hybrid work option at our offices in Seattle and NYC if you like to be in-person.
  • Competitive Benefits Package: Medical, Dental, & Vision premiums 100% covered for you and any dependents; 401(k) with employer matching; paid parental leave; monthly wellness credit; employer HSA contributions; continuing education; deskpass membership; and more

More About MD Clarity
