What You'll Do
- Own the Dog Treats P&L and serve as the day-to-day finance partner to business leadership, ensuring strong controllership, performance management, and decision support.
- Lead forecasting and planning cycles (weekly, monthly, quarterly), including development of key assumptions, risks/opportunities tracking, and clear driver-based variance explanations.
- Deliver weekly, monthly, and quarterly business reporting (WBR/MBR/QBR), including results vs. plan/forecast, KPI performance, and concise narratives for leadership.
- Oversee month-end close activities for Dog Treats, including reconciliation and root-cause analysis of variances between actuals, trends, plan, and targets.
- Partner on AVN/vendor funding strategy and negotiations, including building data-backed targets, tracking funding realization vs. plan, and surfacing gaps early to protect profitability.
- Build and maintain financial models to evaluate assortment, pricing, promotion, and other strategic decisions, including scenario modeling and investment/business case development.
- Conduct deep-dive and ad hoc analyses to diagnose performance, quantify trade-offs, and provide recommendations that drive results (e.g., promo efficiency, mix shifts, margin drivers).
- Work cross-functionally with Finance, Merchandising, Analytics, Product, Marketing, Supply Chain, and Accounting to align on one set of numbers and execute against business priorities.
- Drive continuous improvement in reporting, forecasting, and analytical processes by simplifying workflows, strengthening metric definitions, and improving automation where possible.
- Manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high standards for accuracy, clarity, and stakeholder responsiveness.
What You'll Need
- Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or similar required. MBA preferred.
- 5+ years of relevant experience (Strategic Finance, Financial Analysis, Corporate Finance, Ops/Supply Chain Finance, Investment Banking), preferably with exposure to retail/e-commerce finance and financial modeling.
- Strong understanding of GAAP, financial statements, and P&L mechanics, with experience in forecasting, budgeting, variance analysis, and KPI performance management.
- Advanced analytical and modeling skills, with the ability to build analyses from the ground up, synthesize large datasets, and translate findings into clear recommendations.
- Working experience with SQL or another programming language required; experience with Hyperion or other EPM/FP&A tools is a plus.
- Strong communication skills (written and verbal), including the ability to distill complex information clearly for business leaders.
- Ability to operate in ambiguity and rapidly changing conditions while consistently delivering high-quality outputs.
- High ownership mentality, strong bias for action, and proven ability to drive projects to completion.
- Strong Excel and PowerPoint skills; data visualization experience (Tableau or similar) is a plus.
