Job Description SummaryThe FLIGHT DECK Leader for Software & Sustainability is accountable for designing, coaching, and sustaining the FLIGHT DECK operating system across the Software & Sustainability organization. Reporting to the CEO, Software & Sustainability, this role focuses on building a robust lean operating model, accelerating FLIGHT DECK activation, and enabling strategic priorities through leadership, transformation, and continuous improvement throughout the organization.
The FLIGHT DECK Leader partners with the CEO and leadership team to translate strategy into an integrated operating system, elevate leaders’ capabilities, and drive sustainable Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost (SQDC) improvements through disciplined use of the 8 FLIGHT DECK Fundamentals and GE Aerospace Behaviors.
This is a high visibility leadership role focused on transformation, coaching, and operating system design for the Software & Sustainability organization. The FLIGHT DECK Leader leads the design and evolution of the operating system using FLIGHT DECK, coaches’ senior leaders and teams on FLIGHT DECK Fundamentals and FUEL coaching principles and orchestrates core operating cadences and forums such as Daily Management, Weekly and Monthly Operating Reviews, and Hoshin Kanri reviews to drive problem solving and SQDC outcomes.
Candidates must be able to work U.S. Eastern Time business hours.
This position will require up to 25% travel, including frequent travel to Cincinnati, OH; Boston, MA; and Austin, TX.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

FLIGHT DECK Leadership:

  • Design, implement, and sustain Standard Work for leaders and teams in Software & Sustainability, ensuring work content, sequence, and timing are clear and repeatable as a foundation for continuous improvement.
  • Drive quality control of FLIGHT DECK fundamentals through continuous improvement in operating cadences to ensure high operational performance.
  • Establish and coach Daily & Visual Management routines that connect daily work to business KPIs, surface issues at genba, and link them to structured problem solving.
  • Support design and execution of Value Stream Management for critical Software & Sustainability flows, including mapping current state, defining future state, and maintaining a prioritized kaizen roadmap.

Strategy Deployment & Operating Cadences:

  • Partner with the CEO, Software & Sustainability, to translate strategy and Hoshin Kanri priorities into a clear operating calendar and cadence that covers Monthly Operating Reviews (MOR), Weekly Operating Reviews (WOR), Daily Management System (DMS), leadership forums, and key customer or partner engagements.
  • Lead and coach operating cadences across the business so Daily Management, Weekly and Monthly Operating Reviews, and Hoshin Kanri reviews function as rigorous problem‑solving and decision‑making forums with clear ownership.
  • Coordinate Monthly Operating Reviews and related forums in partnership with the businesses and products lines by aligning participants, curating the KPI and topic list, ensuring inputs come from daily systems, and driving adherence to MOR standard work.
  • Build and maintain Action Planning standards that link KPIs to countermeasures, ownership, timing, and expected impact, including appropriate use of run charts and containment plans.
  • Enable structured Problem Solving by coaching KPI owners on TAGS‑based problem definition, root cause analysis using genba evidence and pareto analysis, countermeasure selection, and sustainment of improvements.
  • Support leaders in developing and applying Leader Standard Work and layered audits so time is appropriately invested in operational standards, problem solving and kaizen, and breakthrough change.

Workplace Organization & Flow/Pull:

  • Promote 5S and visual workplace practices in physical and digital environments to create clean, organized workspaces that make abnormalities visible and engage teams.
  • Support Flow/Pull thinking in key processes by aligning work to customer demand, reducing batching, and highlighting constraints to improve delivery speed and customer experience.

Culture, Behaviors, and Communication:

  • Act as a FLIGHT DECK Leader in MOR and other cadences, coaching to FLIGHT DECK and FUEL standards and reinforcing GE Aerospace Behaviors: Respect for People, Continuous Improvement, and Customer‑Driven execution.
  • Serve as a central communication link for FLIGHT DECK in Software & Sustainability, synthesizing and cascading FLIGHT DECK‑related messages, ensuring alignment across key stakeholders, and closing the loop between strategy, operating cadence, and daily management.

Minimum Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, business, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience leading and applying lean, FLIGHT DECK, or similar operating systems, including standard work, daily management, problem solving, and operating cadences with a proven track record of delivering transformation and measurable SQDC results.

Desired Qualifications & Experience:

  • Significant experience in operations, product management, software or digital, sustainability programs, or related functional areas.
  • Experience in GE Aerospace or a comparable industrial or technology environment.
  • Demonstrated skills in KPI management, bowler design, and problem‑solving facilitation such as problem‑solving reports and kaizen.
  • Strong communication and facilitation skills, with comfort leading cross‑functional forums and influencing senior stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with sustainability, software, digital products and related business models.

The base pay range for this position is $167,000 - $240,000. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set. This position is also eligible for an annual discretionary bonus based on a percentage of your base salary/ commission based on the plan.  This posting is expected to close on August 24, 2026.
