The role involves embedding with client teams to build AI features, manage integrations, and ensure project deliveries are met. Candidates must have extensive production software experience and be comfortable working hands-on with clients.

Forward Deployed Engineer Location: Remote (US) | Type: Full Time | Experience: 7+ years | Pay: $160K-$200K

About the Role You'll embed directly with a client team and start shipping in week one, not month three. Forward Deployed Engineers at Elios sit inside the client's stack, learn their constraints fast, and build the integrations, migrations, and AI features that move a stalled project forward.

This is hands-on work for someone who likes being the person in the room who can actually build. One week you're wiring up a retrieval pipeline against messy production data, the next you're untangling a legacy migration nobody else wanted to touch.

If you've spent years watching slide decks promise transformation while the engineering never lands, this is the opposite of that. You build, you ship, you own the result.

What You'll Do

  • Embed with client engineering teams and get productive in their codebase within days
  • Design and build production AI features: RAG pipelines, agentic workflows, and model serving that holds up under real latency and cost
  • Take on the integration and migration work that unblocks the rest of the roadmap
  • Translate vague business goals into something concrete you can ship
  • Pair with client engineers so the capability stays after you roll off
  • Flag the hard truths early when an approach won't hold, then bring the fix

Qualifications

  • 7+ years building and shipping software in production, not just prototypes
  • Strong with at least one of Python, TypeScript, or Go, and quick to pick up others
  • Real experience deploying AI or ML systems, whether LLM applications, MLOps, or data infrastructure
  • Cloud depth in AWS, Azure, or GCP, plus containers and Kubernetes
  • You communicate like a consultant and build like an engineer
  • Comfortable in ambiguity and in front of clients

Why Join Us Elios solves technology problems with people. We pair senior technologists with companies building on AI, and we screen the way we'd want to be screened: engineers evaluating engineers. Our platform handles the busywork so you spend your time on the parts that need judgment.

We're early and growing fast. You'll have real ownership, a team that tells the truth, and no bench to sit on between projects.
