Founding sales hire responsible for full sales cycle selling Basalt’s healthcare SaaS to post-acute facilities. Build GTM strategy and sales playbook, generate pipeline, demo product to clinical and operational leaders, close deals, and relay customer feedback to shape product and roadmap.
About Basalt Healthcare: Basalt is transforming the post-acute admissions process. Every day, facilities lose hours of critical clinical time manually reviewing complex, hundred-page faxed referral packets. Basalt’s AI instantly reads these documents, checks them against a facility’s specific admission criteria, and surfaces clinical and payer risks (red, yellow, or green) tied directly to the source text. By reducing manual intake review from hours to minutes, we enable facilities to make faster, more accurate admission decisions, fill beds efficiently, and streamline the prior authorization and appeals process.
The Role: As our first dedicated sales hire, you will be the tip of the spear in bringing Basalt’s technology to the post-acute market. This is a rare opportunity to be a foundational member of a growing startup. You won’t just be executing a sales playbook; you will be instrumental in writing it.
Operating in a fast-paced, agile environment, you will take ownership of the full sales cycle—from prospecting to close—while acting as a critical feedback loop to leadership and product teams. The ideal candidate thrives in ambiguity, possesses a deep understanding of healthcare software sales, and is excited by the challenge of translating early-stage momentum into scalable, repeatable revenue.
Key Responsibilities:
- Full-Cycle Sales Execution: Prospect, qualify, negotiate, and close new business with post-acute care facilities, skilled nursing facilities, and behavioral health centers.
- Go-To-Market Partnership: Collaborate closely with leadership to test, iterate, and refine the overarching Go-To-Market strategy, value proposition, and ideal customer profile (ICP).
- Build the Playbook: Develop the foundational sales assets, outreach sequences, and objection-handling frameworks that will eventually scale the sales organization.
- Product Feedback Loop: Act as the voice of the customer. Synthesize market feedback, workflow objections, and feature requests to help prioritize the product roadmap.
- Evangelism: Deliver compelling, highly tailored product demonstrations that show clinical and operational leaders exactly how Basalt streamlines their specific intake and referral workflows.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Healthcare Tech Expertise: 5+ years of B2B SaaS sales experience, with a proven track record of selling software into the healthcare space. Selling into hospitals and hospital systems is preferred.
- Domain Knowledge: Familiarity with post-acute care, facility admissions, clinical intake workflows, or revenue cycle management (prior authorizations/appeals) is preferred.
- Startup DNA: Demonstrated experience (or a strong desire to work) in an early-stage startup environment. You must be comfortable operating without a massive support infrastructure and be willing to roll up your sleeves to build processes from scratch.
- Strategic Thinker: Ability to look beyond the immediate deal and understand the broader strategic implications for pricing, market positioning, and scalable growth.
- Self-Starter: High degree of autonomy, resilience, and a proactive approach to pipeline generation.
- On-Target Earnings (OTE): $200,000 – $260,000
