About Coperniq

Coperniq is an AI-native operating platform for project-based contractors.

We bring sales, project management, field service, communication, payments, and AI agents into one platform so contractors can run their business without stitching together multiple disconnected tools.

We’re backed by Y Combinator and Initialized Capital and work with contractors across the U.S.

We’re a small, high-ownership team where strong performers can take on significantly more responsibility very quickly.

The Role

We’re looking for a Founding Business Development Representative to help build Coperniq’s outbound sales motion.

Your primary responsibility will be creating qualified sales pipeline through outbound prospecting. You’ll work directly with the founders and sales team to identify the right accounts, reach decision-makers, understand their business problems, and create opportunities for Coperniq.

This role is also designed as a path into an Account Executive position.

We expect strong performers to spend approximately 2–6 months developing deep knowledge of our customers, market, product, and sales process before beginning to own deals themselves.

The transition to Account Executive will be based on performance and readiness, not tenure alone.

What You’ll Do
  • Prospect target accounts through phone, email, LinkedIn, and other channels.

  • Identify owners, executives, and other key decision-makers.

  • Create and qualify new sales opportunities.

  • Book and attend qualified sales meetings.

  • Understand customer pain, priorities, timing, and buying intent.

  • Maintain accurate CRM records, opportunity data, and next steps.

  • Follow up consistently with prospects throughout the sales process.

  • Work with the founders and sales team to improve targeting, messaging, sequences, and outbound strategy.

  • Test new approaches and help build the outbound playbook for future BDRs.

At full ramp, the target for this role is approximately $350,000 in Sales Accepted Pipeline per month.

Path to Account Executive

Our goal is not for you to remain a BDR indefinitely.

As you demonstrate consistent pipeline performance and develop strong product and sales knowledge, you’ll begin taking on more responsibility in the sales cycle.

This can include:

  • Running discovery calls.

  • Delivering product demos.

  • Building proposals and business cases.

  • Managing multiple stakeholders.

  • Handling objections.

  • Negotiating commercial terms.

  • Owning opportunities from first conversation through close.

Once you’re ready to consistently own the full sales process, the expectation is that you’ll transition into an Account Executive role with a new closing quota and compensation plan.

Who You Are

You’ll likely be a strong fit if you:

  • Want to build a career in B2B software sales.

  • Are comfortable making cold calls and doing high-volume outbound.

  • Communicate confidently with business owners and executives.

  • Are competitive, persistent, and comfortable hearing “no.”

  • Take feedback well and improve quickly.

  • Are highly organized and disciplined about follow-up.

  • Take ownership without needing constant direction.

  • Are motivated by performance and compensation.

  • Want to earn increasing responsibility quickly.

  • Thrive in an early-stage startup where the playbook is still being built.

Previous experience in BDR/SDR roles, SaaS, roofing, construction, or field services is helpful but not required.

What Success Looks Like

A successful BDR at Coperniq consistently creates qualified opportunities and develops a strong understanding of:

  • Our customers and target market

  • Coperniq’s product and value proposition

  • Discovery and qualification

  • Customer pain and buying intent

  • Strong sales process and CRM discipline

The best performers will show that they can do more than book meetings — they can understand customers, run strong conversations, and ultimately earn the opportunity to close business themselves.

Compensation & Benefits
  • $60,000 base salary

  • $60,000 target variable compensation

  • $120,000 OTE

  • Uncapped variable compensation after ramp

  • Equity in Coperniq

  • 15 days PTO

  • 5 paid sick days

  • 70% of employee medical insurance premiums covered by Coperniq

  • 401(k)

  • Company events and offsites

Why Coperniq

This is an opportunity to join the sales organization early and grow with it.

You’ll work directly with the founders, help shape how Coperniq goes to market, and have a clear opportunity to move into a closing role based on performance.

If you want to learn quickly, create pipeline, earn responsibility, and build toward becoming an Account Executive, we’d love to talk.
