Remote fractional CFO responsible for transaction categorization, financial reporting, tax return preparation and filing, audits, reconciliations, budgeting, tax strategy, risk management, and executive financial analysis. Position Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and preferably tax attorney to join our team in a remote, on-call capacity. This role involves organizing and categorizing financial transactions, preparing and filing tax returns, generating financial reports, and advising on financial strategies. The CFO will work closely with the CEO to ensure compliance, optimize tax planning, and support strategic financial decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
- Organize and accurately categorize monthly transactions in Zoho Books and banking.
- Prepare, analyze, and maintain financial statements, accounting records, and reports to ensure accuracy and compliance with standards.
- Prepare and file tax returns, ensuring compliance with GA tax law and optimizing deductions.
- Conduct financial audits, reconcile bank statements, and maintain year-round record accuracy.
- Provide financial advice, develop financial and budgeting models, tax strategies, and risk management plans.
- Support the CEO with financial analysis to guide executive decision-making.
- Improve record keeping and workflows in Zoho Books, supporting future AI-driven financial process implementation.
- Assist with integration between QuickBooks and Zoho Books (preferred).
- Ensure compliance with all legal, tax, and regulatory requirements.
Requirements
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation (required).
- Must have prior experience as a Chief Financial Officer (CFO).
- Must have a proven experience with Zoho Books and QuickBooks.
- Strong background in accounting, financial reporting, and tax preparation.
- Knowledge of GA tax law, compliance, and filing requirements.
- Experience with auditing, reconciliation, and financial planning.
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential financial information with discretion.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to multitask, prioritize effectively, and work independently in a remote environment.
- Experience with Zoho/QuickBooks integration (preferred but not required).
