The Front-End Engineer will enhance Nominal's marketing website through crafting responsive pages, ensuring performance, and collaborating across teams. Responsibilities include leading web initiatives and maintaining high standards for clarity and design.
About Nominal
Nominal is building the software infrastructure that powers the world's most advanced hardware systems, from spacecraft and autonomous vehicles to next-generation industrial machines. Our platform ingests high-rate telemetry, validates complex software systems in real time, and helps engineering teams iterate faster without sacrificing safety or precision. We're a small, fast-moving team of engineers and operators who own problems end-to-end, work across disciplines, and thrive on solving challenges at the intersection of hardware and software. As a dual-use platform, we're serving top-tier commercial and defense customers, including the U.S. Navy, United States Air Force, Shield AI, and Anduril.
We're backed by top-tier investors (Sequoia, General Catalyst, Founders Fund, Lux Capital, and Lightspeed Ventures) who share our mission to accelerate innovation in mission-critical systems. Our team brings experience from SpaceX, Palantir, Anduril, Applied Intuition, and other leading companies, united by a common goal: enabling hardware engineers to push the boundaries of advanced technology with speed, safety, and precision.
🚀 About the role
We’re looking for a front-end engineer who cares deeply about craft and clarity, and who’s excited to make Nominal’s web presence feel as premium as the product we’re building. You’ll own and evolve our marketing website and web experiences end-to-end. That includes everything from launch pages and storytelling to interaction polish, performance, and accessibility. You’ll be based in Austin, working closely with Design and Marketing, and partnering with Engineering to ship work that’s maintainable and fast.
🤔 What You'll Do:
- Lead the lifecycle for major web initiatives, from concept through implementation
- Build responsive, high-polish pages that communicate product value quickly and clearly
- Translate brand direction and content into web-native design: layout, typography, motion, and interaction
- Create interactive demos and prototypes that bring the product to life
- Collaborate closely with Design, Marketing, and Engineering to ship high-quality work
- Maintain a high bar for performance, accessibility, and cross-browser behavior
- Design and maintain reusable components and content patterns to speed up future launches
- Use AI tools to move faster from idea to implementation, explore variations, and tighten polish
🔍 We're looking for someone with
- Experience owning or leading a marketing website or high-touch web surface
- Strong command of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript/TypeScript
- Strong experience with React and modern component-based UI development
- Comfort with Tailwind for rapid iteration and consistent UI implementation
- Familiarity with Shadcn (or similar component primitives) and a willingness to extend it with taste
- Strong visual and interaction sensibility, with attention to detail and polish
- Experience building modern, content-focused websites and landing pages
- A portfolio that demonstrates shipped work and a high craft bar
🔍 Nice to Have:
- Familiarity with animation and interaction techniques (Framer Motion, Lottie, etc.)
- Experience with headless CMS setups and content workflows
- Prior work on a brand, marketing, or growth team (product company or studio/agency)
- Experience with design systems (tokens, components, patterns)
✨ Benefits/Perks
- 🏥 100% coverage of medical, dental, and vision insurance
- 🏖️ Unlimited PTO and sick leave
- 🍽️ Free lunch, snacks, and coffee
- 🚀 Professional Development Stipend
- ✈️ Annual company retreat
