ParentSquare is a rapidly growing Santa Barbara-based company that’s changing the way schools and parents communicate every day. Sound simple? We strive to keep it that way! Our mission is to give schools the power to incredibly enhance family engagement for all students. ParentSquare and RemindHub, our flagship products, serve over 22 million students and drive our mission by providing unified communications tools -forms, sign ups, payments, RSVPs, direct messaging, language translations, chat and more. Remind Chat, our free product, reaches over 80% of K-12 students, providing a safe and easy-to-use platform for direct communication between teachers and families. And our latest innovation, SmartSites, offers state-of-the-art websites for school districts, enhancing their online presence and accessibility.

We are not just creating a product; we are creating empowered educators and engaged parents to improve the lives of all students.  We are passionate advocates for our  customers and for our employees and we invite you to join us on this exciting journey.

Who we’re looking for:

Business is booming and we need your help! More schools and districts are buying ParentSquare to help families and educators communicate, and we need you to build the beautiful, intuitive, and accessible user interfaces that make their lives easier. We need to ship clear, simple functionality that delights our users, while also ensuring our front-end applications are robust, performant, and scalable.

We are seeking a Front-End Software Engineer who will partner with your teammates from product, engineering, and design to build world-class user experiences. You will focus on the client-side of our applications—translating designs into high-quality code, building reusable components, and optimizing our platform for maximum speed and usability. You will both teach and learn from your teammates as you work together to ship new features every sprint.

Most importantly, you’re someone who shares in our passion for improving the lives of students through communication.

This role will include:
  • Partner closely with Product Owners and UI/UX Designers to define, build, and ship new user-facing features for the ParentSquare platform.
  • Translate complex designs and wireframes into high-quality, responsive, and accessible code using modern JavaScript/TypeScript.
  • Develop and maintain a robust library of reusable front-end components to ensure consistency and efficiency across our products.
  • Collaborate with back-end engineers to integrate with APIs and ensure seamless data flow between the client and server.
  • Optimize applications for maximum speed, scalability, and accessibility (WCAG) standards.
  • Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code, and participate in peer code reviews to ensure high standards.
  • Provide mentorship and technical guidance to other engineers on front-end best practices.
Our ideal candidate will have the following:
  • Proven experience in a front-end development role, building and shipping complex web applications.
  • Strong familiarity around ADA Compliance
  • Deep expertise in JavaScript/TypeScript and a modern front-end framework such as React, Vue, or Angular.
  • Strong proficiency in HTML5, CSS3, and experience with CSS preprocessors like SASS/LESS.
  • Experience consuming RESTful APIs and working with asynchronous data requests.
  • A strong understanding of front-end build tools (e.g., Webpack, Vite) and package managers (e.g., npm, yarn).
  • Bachelor’s degree (or higher) from an accredited college or university in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • Familiarity with incremental, agile development processes, as well as CI/CD pipelines.
  • A keen eye for design and a passion for creating exceptional user experiences.
  • (Bonus) Familiarity with back-end languages like Ruby, Python, or PHP.

The perks of working for us are great!

You’ll get your foot in the door as our company continues to grow. We’re big believers in work-life balance and provide:

  • Employer-paid health insurance (including dependent coverage)
  • An employer-matched 401K retirement savings program from day 1
  • Paid Parental Leave
  • Stock options
  • Health + wellness reimbursements
  • PTO that increases each year
  • 16 paid holidays, including your birthday!

As a fully remote team, we’ll make sure you have all the tools and equipment you need to make your home office a place where you can thrive.

We're an equal opportunity employer. All applicants will be considered for employment without attention to age, race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, veteran or disability status.

The salary range for this role will be $120,000-$170,000, DOE.
