We are seeking a mid-level Full Stack Developer with a strong data engineering and backend focus to support the development and operation of cloud-based ETL pipelines for mission-critical geospatial and location-based data workflows. This role is hands-on and delivery-focused, emphasizing day-to-day development, operation, and optimization of data pipelines running in AWS environments.

The ideal candidate is comfortable working in AWS, building and operating ETL workflows using Apache NiFi and Python, and delivering reliable, well-structured JSON data products for consumption by enterprise application development teams.

Responsibilities:

  • Build, operate, and maintain ETL pipelines in AWS, leveraging Apache NiFi and Python.
  • Work directly within AWS environments to deploy, configure, and support data pipeline components.
  • Develop and integrate RESTful APIs to retrieve data from internal and external sources for ingestion.
  • Implement data transformation, validation, and enrichment logic to support downstream use cases.
  • Produce clean, consistent JSON data layers consumed by enterprise application developers.
  • Support processing of high-volume, location-based and geospatial datasets.
  • Monitor pipeline health, troubleshoot failures, and optimize performance in production.
  • Collaborate with application developers, data engineers, and government stakeholders to ensure data products meet mission needs.
  • Participate in Agile development activities including sprint planning, standups, demos, and retrospectives.
  • Contribute to technical documentation, data architecture diagrams, and operational runbooks.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field (or equivalent experience).
  • 3–6 years of professional software development or data engineering experience.
  • Strong, hands-on experience building, deploying, and supporting production data workflows in AWS, with direct use of services such as S3, EC2, Lambda, and RDS.
  • Hands-on experience building and maintaining ETL pipelines using Apache NiFi.
  • Proficiency in Python for data processing and pipeline development.
  • Experience working with REST APIs for data ingestion and integration.
  • Experience producing structured data outputs such as JSON for downstream systems.
  • Willingness to work onsite full time.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with geospatial or high-volume location-based data.
  • Familiarity with geospatial data formats or concepts (e.g., GeoJSON, spatial indexing).
  • Experience optimizing AWS-based data pipelines for performance and reliability.
  • Familiarity with containerized development workflows (Docker).
  • Experience supporting mission-critical or production systems.
  • Experience working in Agile or sprint-based development environments.
