Who we are

Solo empowers teams to build and scale their AI infrastructure using cloud-native tech. Most companies have shifted from asking 'How can we make AI useful?' and are instead now asking 'How do we take our AI projects to production?'. A recent MIT study reveals a shocking 95% of GenAI projects never make it there or fail to deliver positive ROI. At Solo, our AI initiatives are helping teams bridge that gap from pilot to production.

With our roots in critical cloud infrastructure (gateways, proxies, service mesh) trusted by Fortune 500s, Solo is uniquely positioned to lead AI's next wave. As a nimble startup, we innovate faster, our engineers contribute to high-impact OSS (we're a top CNCF contributor) and solve real scalability challenges.

Solo is a VC-backed company, founded in 2017 by Idit Levine. In 2021, Solo was valued at $1B. Solo’s customers are some of the largest in the world, spanning all geographies and industries. Solo’s team has deep expertise in Cloud Computing, Linux, Containers, Kubernetes, Service Mesh, APIs, AI, Security, Networking, Microservice Applications and Infrastructure Modernization.

About the role

As a UI-Focused Fullstack Engineer at Solo, you’ll bring our cutting-edge cloud and AI products to life for our customers. Your work will transform powerful but complex infrastructure into intuitive, engaging, and delightful user experiences. This is not just about building web apps—it’s about shaping how engineers and enterprises around the world interact with the next generation of AI and cloud-native platforms.

You’ll collaborate closely with designers, product managers, and backend engineers to craft interfaces that make advanced technology accessible. You’ll contribute to both frontend frameworks and backend APIs, ensuring usability and performance go hand in hand. Along the way, you’ll have opportunities to contribute to open source, partner with our customers, and directly influence the adoption of Solo’s products across industries.

This is a remote role for applicants based in the US. Unfortunately, we are unable to provide visa sponsorship at this time. Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States on a permanent, ongoing basis.

Job Description
  • Design and deliver responsive, accessible, and user-friendly interfaces for our cloud-native and AI-driven products.
  • Build fullstack features that integrate seamlessly with powerful backend systems.
  • Collaborate with product designers to transform concepts into polished, functional applications.
  • Optimize applications for performance, scalability, and cross-browser compatibility.
  • Contribute to APIs and backend services that power rich frontend functionality.
  • Participate in code and design reviews, driving technical excellence across the stack.
  • Champion UI/UX best practices and advocate for the customer experience.
  • Help evolve our engineering processes and tools as we scale.
Job Requirements:
  • 3+ years of experience building production-grade web applications, with a focus on frontend development.
  • 2+ years of hands-on experience with React and TypeScript in production environments.
  • Proven ability to design and implement complex, responsive UIs with HTML, CSS, and modern JavaScript/TypeScript.
  • Experience developing and integrating backend services in Go, Node.js, or Python.
  • Strong understanding of API design and consumption (REST, GraphQL, or gRPC).
  • Experience deploying applications on Kubernetes, Docker, or other containerized/cloud-native environments.
  • Familiarity with UI/UX design principles, prototyping, or collaboration with design teams.
  • Knowledge of frontend and backend testing frameworks and best practices.
  • Proficiency with Git-based workflows and collaborative engineering practices.
Bonus Experience:
  • Experience with relational or NoSQL databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MongoDB).
  • Contributions to open source projects, ideally in the cloud-native or frontend ecosystem.
  • Experience working in agile, fast-paced, or startup environments.
What you’ll love about Solo

Solo works collaboratively with our customers, partners and open source communities to deliver technology innovation, technology solutions, architectural best-practices, and hands-on education. Solo uses a unique engagement model with our customers that allows us to quickly make them successful, and continue to work closely with them as their production environments grow.
